If you are planning to sand Maple flooring w/ezV

Get a lot of 36 grit paper!!!!!! And 2 vacation days from work and the weekend following....your gonna need it!

We ripped out 2 layers of vinyl, subfloor and linoleum that had been tarred to the wood floor along with 3 million staples per square inch! Much to our surprise, when we started to sand, we discovered that it wasn't oak like the rest of the house, but Birdseye Maple. My hubby said "I can see the "EYES"". Anyhow, this made sanding (ezV) very time consuming. There wasn't even a topcoat on the original floor and it still took 12 packages of 36 and 6 packages of 50 and 4 packages of 80. Not to mention about the same for the palm sander. We reused the ezV paper and cut it to size for the palm sander (smart idea, eh?)

So after 16 hours of sanding this 12x16 foot room, a lot of vacuuming and 5 coats of Varathane satin oil based finish, we have a beautiful gym floor in our kitchen.

Although, it took longer than if we would've used a drum sander, we are very pleased with the ezV sander AND we don't have any ditches in the floor like the drum sander can make if you are inexperienced with it.

May the force be with you!
