Major Restoration Hardware Fail, Need Quality Manufacturer
Comments (4)I could not agree more that the "style" of RH is wonderful. It's exactly what we wanted which is why we purchased so much of it. I honestly don't even care that their markup is a bit higher as long as it's exceptional quality. Unfortunately it is not. One of the rumors we've heard about RH is that they have all their showroom furniture made in North Carolina but when a customer places an order it's much worse quality from China. I don't know this to be true but from the difference we have seen between the pieces we've received and the pieces in their store it is quite different. Canadel was recommended to us and I was able to design a dining table and chairs that look like they would be great, however I've seen some mixed reviews on their quality and am wondering if anyone else has real world experience with them. Also, as far as the sofas are concerned, I found https://www.leathergroups.com/shop/Langston-Leather-Sofa.html which is identical to the Lancaster at RH but apparently with much better build quality (hand made in CA). Experiences and opinions on this are welcome as well....See MoreQuality of Restoration Hardware outdoor furniture?
Comments (9)Hmm. What I can remember (so take this with a grain of salt as it's been eight years) is that our simple set (table and chairs), inc. delivery and set-up (they assembled the table -- I tried to get out of that because I knew we could assemble it ourselves but they just said it's a provided service) and tax, was ~$800. From the local outdoor furniture / christmas showroom place a comparable Brown Jordan set, inc. all the above, was a little over $2,000. I still start to choke remembering it! That $800 felt like a stretch to us then, so can you imagine how the $2,000 felt? Yikes. I still love that set. Yes, it looks exactly the same, but what is still my favorite feature is how comfortable the chairs are. The edge of the seats, where it would hit the back of your thighs, is rounded down, so no edges (sharp or dull) ever catch you. I also like that I don't have to have cushions -- I do have some throw pillows I put on the chairs when I remember (which means the throw pillows are almost indoors). Obviously everyone's priorities are different, but for what our priorities were / remain, our RH set met every one. I'll be interested in hearing the price breakdown -- so far this year, RH has been v. loose with their promos -- are you planning on taking advantage of one? That can make a difference! There was someone on the Kitchens forum who used the $100 back for every $400 spent: she had something like $800 of purchases to make, so she split them into two purchases and was really excited about it. (I don't blame her.) Just a thought .......See MoreQuality of finish on Restoration Hardware's cabinet handles
Comments (7)I'd like to hear from others also. I purchased Grafton Restoration Hardware pulls in oil-rubbed bronze. I haven't used them yet but paid a hefty price to get the 25 I needed. I'm having Caesarstone headaches right now. Once the installer tears out my "new/damaged" countertops on Monday and installs the new ones, I'll be able to move forward with my kitchen update....See MoreConsidering Maddox Sofa from Restoration Hardware-Quality Advice?
Comments (11)I had the Maddox for around 2 years before I got married and moved in with my wife. I thought the quality was solid. I had the 7' blue vintage velvet sofa with down-filled pillows. I work in NYC as an architect and think the architects who designed the Maddox (Marmol Radziner) are exceptional designers. (http://www.marmolradzinerfurniture.com/vienna-way-collection/vienna-way-sofa). The seat cushions were firm and @Kyle Qiao is right - it could double as a nice backup bed. We have the cloud sofa now and I'm not as big of a fan as it loses its shape quickly....See Morelynnski
