Major Restoration Hardware Fail, Need Quality Manufacturer
Comments (4)I could not agree more that the "style" of RH is wonderful. It's exactly what we wanted which is why we purchased so much of it. I honestly don't even care that their markup is a bit higher as long as it's exceptional quality. Unfortunately it is not. One of the rumors we've heard about RH is that they have all their showroom furniture made in North Carolina but when a customer places an order it's much worse quality from China. I don't know this to be true but from the difference we have seen between the pieces we've received and the pieces in their store it is quite different. Canadel was recommended to us and I was able to design a dining table and chairs that look like they would be great, however I've seen some mixed reviews on their quality and am wondering if anyone else has real world experience with them. Also, as far as the sofas are concerned, I found https://www.leathergroups.com/shop/Langston-Leather-Sofa.html which is identical to the Lancaster at RH but apparently with much better build quality (hand made in CA). Experiences and opinions on this are welcome as well....See MoreOT: Restoration Hardware sofa quality?
Comments (6)I bought an RH sofa a few months ago. I really wanted the down cushions but the sales people talked me out of it. They said the down is messy and you constantly have to refluff it. They swore the standard cushions were just as soft. Stupidly, I got the standard. They're hard as a rock. I don't mind fluffing down every day. My throw pillows are down and I fluff them without a thought. I should've listened to my gut instinct, now I'm stuck with a rock hard sofa. I'm not allowed to exchange my cushions, even offering to pay to ship the standards back, pay for the shipping of down filled, and of course pay for the upgrade charge of the down. They consider my sofa 'custom' because I got a different slipcover than the standard sand linen. So no returns. I love the way my sofa looks, but I hate sitting on it. What a disappointment. If you order a sofa don't get standard cushions unless you like rock hard support. If you get the down, be prepared to fluff every day. Im looking into having another company make custom down blend cushions for me, it makes me sick to spend even more money than if I had just listened to my gut....See MoreRestoration Hardware look but better quality -- Where is it?
Comments (1)I recently bought the RH quatrefoil iron bed. It looked good online but when it was delivered and I got a good look at it, it was very cheaply made in China junk that was almost $1000 on sale with shipping. The welds were done very poorly and some of the ornamentation was made poorly. I was so disappointed but sat with it for a few weeks and then made a decision to return it. I wrote them a very nice email explaining this was my first purchase from them and how disappointed in the poor quality and I didn't think their company was selling junk made in China. I should have known better when the movers dropped it off, they told me they had to assemble it ahead of time to make sure it fit together right because sometimes they don't. Not only did RH give me my money back plus the shipping cost but also gave me a $100 gift card towards a store purchase. quatrefoil bed...See MoreConsidering Maddox Sofa from Restoration Hardware-Quality Advice?
Comments (11)I had the Maddox for around 2 years before I got married and moved in with my wife. I thought the quality was solid. I had the 7' blue vintage velvet sofa with down-filled pillows. I work in NYC as an architect and think the architects who designed the Maddox (Marmol Radziner) are exceptional designers. (http://www.marmolradzinerfurniture.com/vienna-way-collection/vienna-way-sofa). The seat cushions were firm and @Kyle Qiao is right - it could double as a nice backup bed. We have the cloud sofa now and I'm not as big of a fan as it loses its shape quickly....See MoreRelated Professionals
