Beware of Bad Bulbs
Comments (45)And imagine, a tiny bulb that shrivelled to almost nothing, Exotic Star, is bringing a scape. Amazing. It is in the brink of dying, yet, it will still give out one last swan song... But I will take care of it. I will make sure that it survives, even though I am not too crazy about Exotic Star. Jodi, be prepared that Exotic Star tends to wilt very quickly. At least mine lost its flowers in a matter of days, and only gave out two flowers per scape just like it's not so distant predecessor, Papilio....See MoreVanguard Furniture buyers BEWARE!
Comments (15)As Laurie Hoover (VP of Account Relations/stock holder) explained to GSGS, Vanguard Furniture Company does indeed provide a lifetime-warranty for all of its cataloged products. We are proud of our quality and stand behind our products. In the case with Domain Furniture, Vanguard was one of many manufacturers that acted as an O.E.M. (original equipment manufacturer). As such, Vanguard neither designed, marketed, nor cataloged any Domain products, and our brand name and implied warranties were never used in conjunction with the sale Domain products. These products were solely DomainÂs intellectual property, and they were responsible for warranty claims. In the course of business Domain offered their customers replacement cushions on a per charge basis. Laurie Hoover offered to replace GSGSÂs cushion at the same per cost basis that all Domain customers were offered in accordance with DomainÂs business practices. Since Vanguard never manufactured Domain cushion cores, we simply charge Domain customers our cost from DomainÂs cushion supplier. I hope this explains the rather complicated relationship between all parties and the reasoning behind our offer to GSGS. We are willing and anxious to help GSGS solve her sofa problems. -John A. Comments (38)There is no way in you know what, that I am going to defend what this woman did to me. She did not have dementia (my Mom had Alzheimers so I know it all too well). Even if she may have "forgotten" I gave her money, when I said it was for the sectional in her formal living room, all it would take is a glance to realize something wasn't right. And again, I know fabrics so I would not be fooled by something old and rotted. I am not a cheap CL shopper. I always offer a lower price, just like at the Antique shows (read Brimfield - love it) because that is what is expected. I do not, would not, ever low ball an item so as it is insulting. There is nothing in this world that I need that badly that would cause me to do that. That's what us" do onto others" do. Getting a 12 X 12 sectional reupholstered would be cost prohibitive in my area. I wound up buying a new one. lower range, from one of a New England chain (Bobs if you are from here - they have 50 stores so fairly well known). I know their stuff is not top notch, but we never ever use it. Honestly don't know why I even bought one. If I bit off my nose a bit, honestly it was well worth it. Looking at that thing everyday would make me cringe, that someone could lie so much, the loss of money meant less to me. I hate that I fell for her "need to downsize" crap. Re returns on CL - I don't care what it is, if you have been purposively deceived, you have a right to expect that person to accept it back. And if they won't you have every right in the world to be PO'd. I have purchased other items and never had this problem. Actually the new sectional is turning out to be great. Now we all have someplace to put our luggage on!!!...See MoreBad Designer Experience Stories Wanted
Comments (88)beekeeperswife, just wondering if you published your article and might share it with us? Also, reporting back on my experience with the designer, it has been quite discouraging. While I expected that we might butt heads on the style of some of the selections, I was hoping to get helpful input on the size/scale of pieces. However, when I went to mock up what the designers proposed I realized it doesn't work from a functional standpoint -- not only does their plan ignore the architecture of the room but it also would place obstacles in access paths that need to be kept clear. Oh well -- a learning experience for sure....See Morestealthecrumbs
