Using a Breville compact oven

OK guys, the kitchen demo is about 2 weeks away so I went to BB&B and picked up a small Breville toaster oven. I've never used one, but I've been stressed about not being able to bake. How stupid! Yep, we could eat out all the time, but, no. I'm a bake-a-holic (as well as being a box-a-holic--need the boxes for packing).

For those of you with this lovely little machine, what do you do with it? I've searched, of course, but most of the posts have been rather old. It will be used before the demo just to get a feel for it.

We bought one for our remodel after a week of struggling with our old one and other electric devices, so it will be a lifesaver for you. We decided on the big one, and I'm glad we spent the extra money for it. All my baking pans fit in it except for a lasagna pan. I like that I have no size restrictions. We don't use a microwave so it gets a good workout.

I used my Breville several times today:

Baking today: Today I baked Lemon Bars and corn muffins.

Breakfast today: I roasted sausage patties. Then toasted English Muffins. To make over easy eggs for DH (yuck) I wrapped the small frying handle in foil and broiled two eggs.

Lunch today for grandkids: I let them make their own pizza's and baked them.

Hmmmm....we purchased ours this past September at BB&B, using a coupon of course! LOL For some reason, the price in the Bloomie's circular seemed lower than what I had paid, though I could be wrong.... I still have to play around with the settings when I make more or fewer than my usual # of slices (or am toasting different types of bread), but have pretty much gotten the hang of it. Poor DH is still confused! :-)

I had almost the same issue with a Breville panini grill...The handle broke when the kids dropped it, which I was completely honest about and I'd wanted to buy a new part...But they sent a whole new grill and it was a much better one. I'd bought the original for $20 on Ebay, and they didn't care. But I'd check with Breville on this one. They always seemed to answer emails quite quickly.

I also recently bought the Breville Smart Oven (the largest one) and I am happy I did. My last toaster oven was a Black & Decker, which was ok, but after using the Breville, I can really see the difference. In terms of your question, I have not baked anything taller than a pie. Mostly I have been using it for making pizzas for the kids. I also baked some cookies and they came out perfect, but I haven't baked anything large as of yet. I'll try and give an update in the future. If anyone is thinking about this toaster oven, I would highly recommend it. It is really user friendly, and so far everything has been working perfectly. Dear sasm, I too have the Breville Smart oven, also replacing a VERY sturdy and long-lived Delonghi (15 years!!). It was recommended to me by the sales people at Sur La Table, who also own it and spoke from firsthand experience. If you go onto Amazon, almost all of the reviews are super positive. The oven does a ton of things, toasts very well (takes longer than a traditional toaster, but after this past weekend, where I was vacationing in a timeshare that only had a regular toaster -read only two pieces at a time-not so great for making toast points for appetizers, or feeding a hungry crowd pronto Tonto), I was even more grateful for my toaster oven. Another cool thing is that it has low temps(130), perfect for making yoghurt or keeping things warm, as well as dehydrating without cooking things. It has a convection feature that works great, plus the oven is big enough for a pizza (not the giganto size LOL) or, for me since I only have one oven, a pie. I bought mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond, using one of their coupons plus a sale price on top of that, so it was less than $300.00. Oh, it's easy to clean too-and has a pull out from the front crumb tray (which to me seems self-evident, but you'd be surprised how many make you remove it from the back!). I know you'll love it-Breville makes a great product. I even bought their Smart Grill based on how much I love my toaster oven, and it rocks too! (No, I don't work for Breville)

I have the Smart Oven by Breville - the same as mustangs - she is the Person I credit for influencing me to buy it ! :~)

Basically, if it fits in the Breville - it gets cooked in the Breville.
I did buy their Pizza pans and make delicious homemade pizza
often.
I bake pasta dishes - using Le Creuset pans, I bake 1/2 hams -- I buy them by whether they will fit inside the oven-- I make all my baked squashes - acorn, spaghetti, sweet potatoes, etc, -- We love crispy smashed potatoes--- what else???? sometimes I bake fish or salmon --- the normal toaster oven foods, including bagels, toast, breakfast muffins--- like I said - if it fits, I use the Breville. I have an expensive (to me) Dacor oven - hate it!
If the Breville broke - I would replace it immediately!
It is my go to oven!

I've tried 8" and 9" pans--they fit. A small gratin pan fits as well. Small casseroles do too. I'm excited! Hubs even likes it, and it's just the two of us. I just don't want to quite cooking, even if it is only 3 weeks. That's what they predict. This oven means I won't have to cook ahead and freeze. I can use the breadmaker and bake the rolls in the little oven. Ah, keep the feeling of being at home, not in a disaster zone.
