Flexsteel Latitudes Dylan group
Comments (17)I can't comment on Flexsteel Latitudes specifically because I purchased two Flexsteel Domestic (made in the good 'ole USA!) -Chicago group- reclining sofas. My sofas are fantastic. Excellent craftmanship and I believe will last for many years to come. During my research I did find several reviews of the Latitudes (made overseas) stating the quality was not as good as the Domestic collections. One local furniture store manager told me that the quality of the Latitudes collections was so bad (many returns for brokens pieces) that he no longer allowed them to be carried/ordered from his store. Take that with a grain of salt though, as I too looked at the Latitudes collection in a store and it seemed like a really nice, well-built piece of furniture to me. Personally, I was willing to spend a few more dollars to support our country's dying furniture industry. Interestingly enough, right as I was placing my order Flexsteel announced a plant closure or two in the U.S. My furniture was delievered right on time though, it took the two months that was quoted to me when I ordered it. Good luck with your purchase, whatever it may be!...See MoreFlexsteel Latitudes - Dylan Collection
Comments (6)I purchased 2 Lattitude chairs in August 2012. They both squeak. The bottom of the both chair cushions is torn from exposed metal underneath the cushions on both chairs. When you reach down between the cushions and the arms, you feel rough exposed wood. One of the tufted area has pulled away from the back of each chair in the same spot on BOTH chairs. Todays Furniture and Flexsteel is sending someone to "look at repairing these problems". It is obvious that these are flaws in the design. The chairs look great but with only one person sitting in the chairs, (I switched when the first one started to squeak), they are a disaster. I also bought a sofa and it is great.(not Lattitudes) The Lattitudes collection is made in China. When they delivered the chair, I probably should have denied delivery. They actually put the back of the chair onto the base (KD-knockdown) furniture. The back leather of the chairs are actually attached by velcro to the bottom base of the chair. When I saw the chair in the store, it was against the wall and I did not see the back of the chair. It was extremely comfortable and that was all I realized at the time. Now the cushions are already sinking in the back and I believe that is why they have started to rub on the metal pieces. Again this is obviously a design flaw. Will wait on the "Furniture Repair company" to come on Thursday and see what they suggest. After reading some of the comments, I do not see an easy outcome. Will let you know what transpires,,,, As an additional comment, I bought Flexsteel since I had raised my children on Flexsteel sofa and chairs and they lasted until my children were grown...I cannot believe that Flexsteel is not testing their products when they order them from China...It appears there is no Quality Control on what is shipped. The underneath of the cushions are attached to the bottom of the chair with black velcro and the other one is white velcro that does not have an attached piece for the velcro to attach to...Bad QC and obviously a bad design...See MoreFlexsteel Latitudes Brandon Sofa or...?
Comments (3)Hi haileginger, I am glad to hear you like the sofa. After going to several local furniture stores, that sofa happened to be the one that was the most comfortable when sitting down, and accommodated our seating needs. There are of course more sofas available in a higher price bracket, but we will not be paying more at this time. I spoke with our local Flexsteel dealers, and they are quoting me a price of $4700 for my requested arrangement, due to prices going up a little bit this year according to one dealer. We got a quote of $4300 in May. I will wait for Labor Day weekend and check the stores again to see if they are having any kind of promotions....See MoreFlexsteel Furniture made in China
Comments (13)jlouise....no. vinyl leather is just what I described up in my other comment. It's a petroleum product. Plus, this line is made in China and we all know their quality control isn't like ours. While faux leather still contains some form of leather, Vinyl is completely synthetic. Both these materials are quite affordable and budget-friendly while containing valuable benefits and properties some good info on othis article https://www.sailrite.com/Faux-Leather-Better-Than-Real How do you tell the difference between leather and vinyl? It can be tricky to tell if a piece of furniture is made of leather, vinyl or a combination of the two (sometimes called “bonded leather”). First and foremost, check the labels. Be on the look out for terms such as “pleather” or “faux leather.” In contrast, genuine leather will be marked as such. Next, check out the grain of the material. If the pattern in the grain is repeated, it is likely vinyl or another manmade material. Leather will not have an identifiable pattern, as it is individual to the animal from which it came. No two leather items can be exactly the same. Finally, leather has a distinctive scent (from the chemicals and dyes used to treat the material) not found in vinyl. Is vinyl better than faux leather? Both these materials are quite affordable and budget-friendly while containing valuable benefits and properties. What is this? However, while Vinyl does not stay great over time, faux leather maintains its quality over a longer period, making it a better candidate for usage than Vinyl. Bonded leather is entirely diff, basically scraps of leather molded w/resins and such to make the material. Bonded leather is made by milling leftover hide, including its dust and shavings, and spray gluing them onto the back of a hard fiber surface. During the finishing process, it is dyed, coated with polyurethane to give it a nice sheen, and embossed to make it resemble real leather. Because it contains 10 to 20% real animal hide, a lot of companies use the term “leather” in their description, misleading buyers. The people who buy then get sadly surprised when they realize that it’s not durable at all like real leather....See Moremactruck
