Speaking of facial alteration - how about the Botox Mom?

I'm sure many have seen or heard about the mother who has been injecting Botox into her 8 year old daughter, along with getting her waxed, all in order to make her daughter a "star". She appeared on Good Morning America and detailed the torture treatments that she gives her daughter.

Fortunately, this nutjob has lost custody of the girl, pending an investigation.

She's a nutjob! If you ever watch Toddlers in Tiara's it is the same thing. Four year old girls getting spray tans and crying while they get their eyebrows waxed. What ever happened to just letting kids be kids?

I've heard conflicting reports about the child being removed but if it is really true, I am so happy. One should have to be licensed to parent.

WE live in a tiny,tiny house with a basement, so the first thing we had put in was a ramp, 33 feet of it. the CCAC (with Glitter speaks about) sent a facilator over (fancy name i think for passing the buck and keeping people employed!) well they send this slick guy over and he is good Al this Al that, like they are best of friends, i can get you this ramp made from X company and it will "only" be 6,500.00 however you will not be able to use your garage! well we like to use X company and they are good. Al sign the contact. well this is when i came in the room and ask what is going on, brian says i'm having al sign a contract for a ramp, oh i say, i don't think so, he's on morphine and we discuss everything and we haven't discussed this privately at all. brian's face turns red and says well i'll come back tomorrow after you've talked it over, smiling that million dollar smile. in the meantime, i talk to someone else, who "knows a guy" (everyone should have one of these! - lol)who makes ramps especially for wheelchair bound people and is employed by a major company buy works on the side, he comes over and designs a lovely ramp with 2 sitting areas, buys all the wood etc and with a helper they build this 36 ft or so ramp for ,,,, are you ready ... 1,000.00!! (this is materials and labour!). brian comes over 3 days later and rudely says oh, you got the ramp up, i guess there is no need for me to contact you again for anything! too make this long story short, we al and i in our 40's at the time, what on earth does this guy do to the "little old lady or man", takes them into his confidence and basically rips them off! because i seem to have a big mouth and al is in the hospital alot i speak up to people and warn them that if this guy shows up at all, make sure they don't sign anything or have a relative there with them at all times they are with him! i'm sure most people are not like this guy, but when there is only one company that does this, you have to wonder! it's warming up already to 54!!!! debbie

My DH and I both dislike tattoos and clearly don't understand why anyone would want to mess up the body God intended for you to have. One of our ex-employees has tats. When we hired him he only had a few and we told him he had to keep them covered at all times and body piercings gone. One day during the summer he had to crawl up in the attic of a customers home to pull wire through for some light fixtures. Here in Fl, during the summer the attic can reach 120 or more degrees. He took off his shirt because it was so hot and when he was coming out of the attic, the homeowner, a woman, screamed. She didn't know who or WHAT it was coming out of her attic. Police were called, employee was showing his ID, even though she met him when he first showed up. My husband was summoned to the customers home. Employees tatts were of skull bones and other scarry stuff all over his chest, back and arms! He had gotten more since we hired him. He did quit eventually but we knew then that we couldn't send him into any more customer homes to work. That was quite a few years ago and since then ex-employee has ran into DH and told him that he's trying to get rid of all tattoos because no one wants to hire him looking like a freak. He also let the piercings close up. He told DH that he wishes he never got them that he was too young when he got his first one.

I never tried to persuade you to think otherwise. However, that does not negate the fact that it has already been done by those who dont share your opinion, and anyone who puts a photo out there should be aware of such...that the chance of it happening will always exist. The agent who sold us our house works part time. In addition, I have met a number of REAs who are part timers.some of whom had another career, that went south (and not by their choice or fault), and took up RE sales as an alternative. The job market is not wide open to those who are middle aged and beyond..and often RE provides a good alternative. There are 99,000 people licensed to sell RE in NJ. Do you truly believe that every single one is doing so full time...as their first and only career? Bottom line? Although it may be beyond your personal experience, that does not mean that it is non-existentor, even the exception to the rule. I have based my opinions on a much broader spectrum. I consult to the HI profession throughout four statesas such, I have heard a dearth of stories that the HIs hear from buyers. I can assure you that all too often, even if the REA has found the buyer a home which they love, the buyer is not necessarily happy with how their REA handled the deal. As I said earlier, one has just to frequent this forum long enough, and you will read of many stories of buyers AND sellers ready to throttle their REA by the time all is signed, sealed and delivered. There are many who have been very pleased as well...but that does not negate the fact that problems do indeed exist...in some cases, problems of a major nature...and public perception of REA's in general is not the best in many cases. Ive said it beforeIll say it againthere is the good..the badand the in between in ALL professionsRE is no exception. If that is an issue for you...so be it...but IMO, when there is something negative said, regardless of how factual,it does not matter how prettily it's iced...the reality remains the same.

I know a 19 year old girl that has been requesting breast implants for Christmas - she wants her parents to pay for it. Her mom says she has wanted this for as long as she can remember. When I first met this woman she pointed out the daughter as the "one with the little b**bs." No wonder the daughter wants implants. She's probably been teased by her parents about this her whole life. I think her parents should be slapped upside the head! The poor girl is barely 5 foot and about 100 pounds. I think a bigger chest will make her look very strange. Right now she is right for her body. Yep - it disgusts me but unfortunately this is society. I would not want to be a teen today.

Glad to see she lost custody. I haven't watched more than a couple episodes of that show- makes me cringe.

Reminds me of the story where the father gave his son a Tattoo. What is wrong with these people?!!!

Makes you wonder if her mother was also planning on paying for her daughter's breast implants as a 16th birthday present like they're doing in Orange County.

I have to agree with Chelsea Handler who (on last night's show) said that pageants for children need to be aganist the law.

What I can't quite grasp is why this woman would have appeared on a national news program to talk about this. I have a hard time understanding how anyone could be that delusional to think that there would not be tremendous backlash from this. What was the point of the GMA appearance anyway?

Pageants for children are hideous. Yeah, let's start 'em out as toddlers to be focused on outward appearances, lavish spending, and winning above all else. You cannot possibly convince me that parents involve their children in these train wrecks because they think it's going to build the child's character. Pathetic.

I also don't understand why she went on TV. I feel that pageants need to take a step back & start disqualifying the kids/parents that do artificial teeth; waxing; tans.

As far as Botox- years ago they wanted to inject it in my back for spasms. It was a new procedure back then; I agonized over the decision to inject botulism into my body. I don't understand how people can inject it into their faces when we don't know what problems people will face down the line.

To do this to a child should be punishable.

Will she not get in trouble with her job? What about the person giving her the Botox? ???

That's the other thing ...how did this woman obtain the botox if it's illegal for anyone but a medical professional to possess it? Or maybe it's not illegal to possess it, just illegal to administer it without a license. Does anyone know what she does for a living? Is she licensed in her profession? As with any illegal substance will they try to go after the person who provided her with the botox?

I don't agree that pageants should be abolished. There are different types of pageants from what I've learned watching the show...natural and glitz. It's the glitz pageants where you see these extreme measures. Pageants are held across the states, you'd have to pass laws in every state if you're going to be sucessful in stopping these actions. Parents would simply cross state lines. Do you think Congress is going to pass laws prohibiting a parent from spray tanning their child, gluing on nail tips, applying false eye lashes and hair spray? I doubt it. You'd first have to prove they cause harm before successfully passing laws making pageants illegal.

IMO the root of the problem stems from the judges. Alter their way of thinking and you'll see a lot of this nonsense stop. Judges are to blame because they're the ones giving higher scores to the children with the spray tans, false eye lashes, and cupcake dresses that put the parents into the poor house. Convince the judges to change their way of thinking and parents will happily follow suit.

This story says that she perpetrated the hoax for a $200 payment. I still think that makes her an unfit mom.

The good news is that it was a hoax. And the bad news is that it was a hoax. Poor child. And to think there are folks out there who cannot convieve at all.

A hoax?! Sick, sick, sick. So the child is back with her Mom now since the tests came back that she doesn't have botox in her face?

If she seriously got paid $200 for this stunt she is an idiot. She will be dealing with the backlash over this for years.

I had heard a couple days ago that she was licensed to give botox injections and that the daughter was requesting implants in a couple years.

The pressures to be "perfect" from society are out of control.
