What to put on chair/table legs to protect wood floor?

We've just completed installing a bamboo floor. What should I put on table and chair feet to help protect the floor? When I had Oak flooring a few years back, it was recommended to use wool "felt" on the feet. Is that still the case or is there something better?

This is at the beach and we knew the risks of installing wood and sand but it still seemed like the best option for the house.

I did not see what the links above pulled up (probably what I am going to describe)but go to Lowes or Home Depot. They have several options. For chairs and other furniture with legs, they have various sizes of plastic disks with a special sleeve mounted to them to hammer into the bottom of the legs. The nature of the sleeve makes it so it WILL NOT split any wood, they remain securely fastened and are ideal for furniture that is moved often like chairs and I have used them on some pretty nice antique pieces with no problems (when you see the construction, you will understand better). These disks are covered with a dense wool felt. For other pieces (those that are not moved often), they have peel and stick pieces that can be cut to size and adhered to the bottom of furniture. In each case, the felt lasts forever. We have had some for 15 years that are still in good shape.

I had the problem of sliding furniture on my wood floors. I found that using Rubbermaid (or other brands) of shelving "liner,"which comes in rolls, keeps them from sliding. I don't remember the exact name, but it is the kind that keeps dishes from sliding on cabinet shelves. It is a very thin rubber. I buy it in the beige color that matches the floor most closely, cut it double the size of my furniture legs, then fold it over so it is doubled. (it sticks to itself better than to the floor). There is no real "sticky stuff" on it, it's just very non-skid. Keeps the furniture where I want it and is not really visible at all.

The biggest problem here is that the bottom of furniture legs are not at an even angle with the floor. Stick on glides either slowly work their way off or wear on one edge until the leg meets the floor. The best working glides have enough swivel/tilt to allow the pad to sit even with the floor. GlideGuys Universal Glides have this swivel/tilt and also roll like a horizontal caster. GlideGuys have interchangeable bases for either hardwood or carpet and felt bases can be purchased separately if they wear or are damaged. GlideGuys are made in USA and can be reused for long life. Remember that the glides used on new furniture are the cheapest option the manufacturer can use to keep the legs from being damaged before the sale and not intended to be a good choice to be used on either hardwood or carpet and should be changed before use.

After using the self-sticking felt pads for years, when we did our kitchen Reno I tried something different because I was tired of the felt pads always coming off. I bought a product from Amazon.ca called "chair socks). I'm not sure that Amazon.com actually carries them -- I don't think so). Mine are solid colour ( I got some black ones got my island stools, and brown ones for my dining chairs). I've had them since Christmas and so far they are great! You must follow their sizing instructions however, but that too is on the Amazon site. I'll try to attach a picture.The only complaint I have is they are expensive . . .but I like them enough that I think the investment is worth it. (My younger self, however, would probably have been too frugal to spend the money. they are about $15 CDN plus shipping for 8 socks (2 chairs).
