What is the best stone-look flooring on market that is not tile?

I initially wanted ceramic or porcelain tile in my kitchen, but since I'm not getting any younger, I fear the harshness of tile (not to mention the HUGE cost of installing it). I have seen many different products on the market from Duraceramic to stone-look laminates. Has anyone recently been in the market for a stone-look floor and what have you decided on? I am replacing a sheet vinyl floor.

We're planning to do the same thing - replace sheet vinyl in the kitchen and entry with something stone-like. Significant other came across DuPont's Tuscan Stone laminate on the HD website, and it looks like a good candidate. It seems to have good reviews on the website - I haven't found any threads here to see whether it's as good as it sounds, though! Good luck on your search - I'll be interested to hear what you find!

It will be awhile. We are getting 1300 sq feet of wood laminate installed within the month and so I'm just researching right now. I really want tile for the amazing look, but I'm really afraid of the harsh feel to my feet. I'm afraid of that fake tile/stone look and less moisture resistance of laminate...ugh....there simply is not a perfect solution. Somehow it seems they have come a long way with simulating wood design but not as good with stone/tile.

Put in a new wood like porcelain tiles from Cancos in September. Love the look and color but it has a haze when daylight shines on certain spots of the floor. Its driving me crazy!!!!!!!! I've tried lots of cleaners and cleaning methods.... Bona, vinegar and water, mr. clean, steam mop, microfiber and bissell crossover. Please help!!!! Would like to hear if anyone has come across this problem and any solutions would be greatly appreciated!

What people are suggesting is that a skilled flooring person can "weave in" the new hardwood floors with the existing wood floors. No one on the internet can tell you if this is a possibility as you need to find someone to come out and let you know if it is feasible and the cost. In an open kitchen which is probably what exists in your condo, many people prefer to have the same flooring throughout. The alternative is to put down some type of flooring that works with the existing flooring and your other design choices. At this point, it's pretty much a blank slate. Who is helping you with your other design choices?

The best DESIGN option = same tile throughout. The sad thing is the tile may no longer be available. Now you are into some weird design elements that no one explained at the time you installed the wood-look tile. In essence you have "wet" areas that are covered in "wood". You are now looking at having to put traditional looking tile or stone in the living areas normally reserved for wood. This is Bass Akwards in the eyes of many (myself included). Personally, being a cork flooring expert, I would replace carpet with cork floating flooring. It is soft and quiet and is NOT wood looking. But I know cork and I know how to live with its eccentricities. I'm 1% of the population. The other 99% can't handle cork. In an ideal world, you would have used a stone look tile in the kitchen areas and a wood-look tile for the rest of the house because that's traditionally where you would put wood. I would check to see if you can find the original wood-look tile. Be aware you will have issues with colour - assuming you can find the same product. Photos of what you are dealing with could help us.

Stone look alike laminate flooring manufacturers, such as Wilsonart, Armstrong, Quick-Step, Shaw and Mohawk use sophisticated, computerized technology to create realistic designs. Try either of these company product.
