Peanut products and salmonella update

A friend of mine just told me his 75-y.o. mom was sick for a couple weeks - turns out it was salmonella from an energy-type bar.

And when I visited my in-laws last week they told me they buy Clif bars from Costco - they got a call from Costco alerting them that some of the bars may be tainted and to check the manufacturers web site for the dates in question. The bars they had were not in the date range Clif recommended to return.

Seems like these bars are popular among seniors now. So keep on the look out and alert your friends and family that there is still product out there that may be tainted.

On the other hand, don't over-react - the major peanut butter makers are not in any way involved. So keep buying and eating your Jif and Skippy, etc.

Also, FYI - an employee's wife works at the Girl Scouts and he told me their cookies are fine -- they don't get their peanut butter product from the investigated suppliers.
