I heard them interview a guy who worked in a peanut butter plant in Georgia on the radio, and I am glad I don't eat peanuts. He said roaches get in the peanut butter and are ground up and you can't see them. And, that's not all he said.

yeah, marilyn, I heard about that quite a few years ago. It kept me from eating peanut butter for a while. Then, I decided 'unwanted things' were probably in most processed foods we ate, so I went back to eating it and tried not to think about it. I try to make a mental effort to try never to mention it to people who eat peanut butter because I don't want to ruin it for them. I doubt it's a safety or health issue or it wouldn't be allowed. Sometimes ignorance is bliss...

ewww boy am i glad DH is deathly allergic to peanuts lol so we never have anything in the house related to them. i got a call from my dad (who is in chicago) last week about a Sam's Club letter he received for me in the mail pertaining to this recall. i use our funeral homes' Sam's Club card here in orlando and purchased a Baklava platter in dec for co-workers. well the company that makes the platter also uses peanuts in same facilities, thou none were in the baklava, so we got a notice from sam's club on it. sort of nice to know how something like this can be tracked. ~ liz

Cockroaches in peanuts are nothing compared to what is ground up/processed in bread.

We are in wheat country here, and you should see what is in a load of freshly harvested wheat. If you only knew... :-)

At least this is one thing I don't have to worry about with Nick being allergic to peanuts. However, if this stuff is going on with peanuts, I'm sure it's going on with other foods too.

I started buying peanut butter at the natural food store where you can grind the peanuts yourself.

My old roommate was bartending and one of his regular customers was a FDA inspector for peanuts/peanut butter plants. The things he told him that were allowed to be in peanut butter made me never want to buy regular peanut butter again. But as others said, anything you buy, especially that was processed at a factory, is going to have all sorts of gross things in there, even if in tiny amounts.
