Best long distance plans

Has anyone any experiensce with Qwest on-line long distance? Does anyone have any good leads on best long distance plans? We didn't use long distance for a long time and I got rid of it. Now I am using all my cell minutes and think I might be better off getting a cheap LD carrier. These on-line deals-are they indeed deals? TIA.

These companies have a lot of different rates for different areas, so picking the best one depends a lot on where you are. The best resource I've seen that compares different phone plans is Phonedog.com. You can search through all the different plans available from carriers in your state and see side-by-side comparisons of their rates. This site also exposes hidden fees and charges people usually forget to ask about. Qwest is on the list of plans they discuss, so you might want to check it out.

This site also is great for comparing cell phone plans and rates. I like it this site a lot; it's a good one to bookmark.

You know pdu - your way of travelling without a carrier or crate works... until it doesn't. Sounds like a mellow guy but all it takes is one sudden loud unexpected noise (with a car door open) at a rest stop and your mellow cat suddenly isn't. Im on a lost cat forum and did a ton of research when my cat once went missing - cats lost at rest stops, campsites and while travelling or moving are all too common an occurrence. Add to that people being in a hurry and not willing or able to stay hours or days to look.... its a sad situation for the poor cat who may likely be abandoned ,.... and the people who generally are kicking themselves quite mercilessly for having been so careless. I'm truly baffled why people would not take even the simplest precautions. Carriers breaking in half (the screws coming loose) are another all too common occurrence. BTW - fyi missingpetpartnership.org is an amazing resource about lost pet behavior - dogs may panic and run and keep running, but cats lost in strange surroundings will typically hunker down silently (they are capable of concealing themselves in very small places) and not respond when called until they've calmed down which may take hours - maybe days. Your search would involve combing every square inch of the area - cant assume they'll come when called .... although perhaps at night when its very quiet you might be lucky and hear a tiny scared meow in reply.

Any tips on a long distance reno ? summer rental cottage

Planning to redo 1965 kitchen in inherited summer cottage. Replacing plastic cabinets and green swirl formica and making room for a washer/dryer! Read kitchen wisdoms etc, so helpful- but this kitchen is 500 miles away. Narrowed to two contractors to bid both recommended by trusted people...developing plans,choices, scope of work now. With work we get there a week in spring and a week in fall so hope to be present for demo and rough-in in fall and for install of cabinets and finish in spring. Can't risk losing summer occupants. Any thoughts on navigating this process long distance? (and getting over being scared of it all!?)

I would like to suggest that you get one of those aromatic cat plug in devices for where ever you move in. It will keep them calmer and also keep them from bad behavior in your new home. I would also suggest that you either contain them somewhat or watch them carefully, bc when cats get upset they may have some out of litter box behaviors that will be hard to alter later on. Also they have the same spray to spray into their carrier ... get some and do it before you leave... but do NOT spray when your cat is in there nor on your cat! Before I moved down alone with my animals my husband came with me with a trailer attached to our car and we moved a number of our things into a rental. We did this a week before I officially moved down with the animals. There was NO way I would be driving down with them and pulling a trailer! BC I was leaving early to get a job in the new area before my husband I had to drive down alone a week later with the animals. While there during our first trip to the rental, I set up the bathroom for my cats. I added one of those aromatic plug-ins for cats to help them adjust to the move. It is supposed to calm them down and make them think that the place is OK. I left it running for when we came down later. When I moved my two cats and toy poodle. I had a 12 hour drive. My poodle had taken trips alone but not my cats. Since I didn't know what to expect from them I ended up leaving after dinner and drove through the night. I stopped several times to let them out of their crates and to use a litter box in the back of the car. Neither cat would use the litter box nor did they eat or drink the whole ride down. My dog was fine on the other hand. But even though it was grueling to drive through the night alone. I think it was the best solution for my cats. It really didn't disturb their eating or bathroom patterns as much. And neither of them even used the litter box I set up anyway.

To the question of do builders have un-advertised list of properties - absolutely yes depending on the area. I'm not in CHI but in the up and coming hipster area I work, there are about 4 or 5 builders/developers/rehabbers that scoop up every property possible and often sit on them, leaving them untouched, until the right buyer comes along. Honestly though, even though you have family that may be guiding you to the right neighborhood, I don't think I'd want to build without living there first. I'm going to make alot of assumptions here so this may be very off-based but bare with me... Perhaps your current lifestyle is in suburban or even a more rural area, life in a bigger city and more urban neighborhood (more urban guess is based on gentrification/tear downs) would bring a different lifestyle and bring different needs. More focus on walking through the front door or parking a bicycle, less on parking a car in the garage. Less focus on bringing home a car load of groceries every week or 2, more about bringing in a single sack on your way home from work every couple days. Being closer to family, more focus on space for weekly dinner get-togethers, less care about guest bedrooms. Like I said, I'm making assumptions and everyone knows the saying with that.

We buy the cards from Sam's Club. .045 per min, no minimum or connection fees, like the cards you get from convenience stores, etc. You only have to buy one card, then refill it at your convenience, same price per minute.

We have ACCXX for all of our long distance. It's costing 3.9 cpm. We have used the Sam's Club AT&T card for years, but hubby tired of dialing #'s. Card was great when we had kids in college. Very happy with ACCXX, have had it for home phone for 1 year, now have it at cottage too. They put both phone #'s on one bill. I think last one was 400 minutes and $18 for the month. With SBC and AT&T our bills used to run $150 per month!

Try Onesuite. It's 2.9 cents per minute in the U.S., 2.5 if you use a local number. Prepaid and does require pin numbers, but Onesuite has a feature that allows you both to bypass Pin entry and to enter your often-called numbers. Very easy to use. No taxes or fees - I canceled my long distance, too.

I do the same thing Tina does. I always get my calling cards at Sams Club or Costco, as they have the cheapest LD cards around. We haven't had a long distance carrier in about five years.
