There shouldn't be that much of a gap. If the floor was laid out correctly the gap would be the width of a grout line.
Do you have any height clearance on the doors threshold? Is the door a slider or hinged? If it's a slider and you have clearance you can install a wood threshold. If little or no clearance you can use one of those carpet bars. They're used to transition between carpet/wood/tile. The Borgs will have them. They come in brass or silver and widths varying from 3/4" to 2".

Thank you for your response. The floor layout seems to be really good, but I am definitely not pleased with the grouting job they did. I am also concerned about the space by the slider door. There is a much smaller gap between the wall vs. the door threshold, and I don't know if they should have cut little strips to put in the threshold. The width of the room allowed for perfect placement of 6 18/18 tiles without needing cuts. The only place it was different was by the slider door; that was about 1/4" wider.

they should have figured for and placed cut-rows on the opposite sides of the room and made the cuts at that door the same as the cuts on the opposite wall.

This would have made transitioning to other materials in doorways on the opposite side of the room, and wet saw cutting and snap cutting more time consuming.

In my opinion, they cut corners to save installation time time so they didnt have many cuts.

It can certainly be fixed aesthetically by wet saw cutting pieces in the gap or topically by placing a small wood transition there covering the gap.

It all depends what you want.

ask them why they didnt place equal cuts on each opposing wall to cover that gap properly.

were they that close on the materials that they didnt have enough to do it properly ?

I'm feeling pretty ticked off at myself for even hiring those guys. We were planning on doing it ourselves, but we were just too flipping tired after all the work we've poured into the kitchen, we decided to go with our neighbor's recommended tile guys.

We laid the backerboard and taped the joints, so at least we know that was done. I am really, really upset that I didn't do my research more, because it turns out they used premixed thinset. Which I now know is not good.

So in between kicking ourselves, my husband and I now have to decide do we want to bring these guys back to fix one loose tile and a few poorly grouted sections, or should we do it ourselves?

Live and learn, I suppose. Too bad it costs so much.

Thanks for your input; I really appreciate it. I think we'll try to do the cuts, but if that doesn't work out it's good to know there are other options.
