Regular TV over the Fireplace

Hi,

We have an old mill house that originally had coal burning fireplaces. They have all been bricked up and are not functional. Due to ill placed doors and windows as well as limited space, we were thinking of installing a recessed cabinet over the fireplace in which a regular TV could be placed, and covered by a cabinet door disguised as a framed painting. Either side of the fireplace has recessed areas we are going to install shelves in. We also plan to install an electric fireplace mostly for show and ambiance.

As we are limited in DIY knowledge, can anyone share their experience with us as to wether or not this can be done and if there are any obstacles that can be foreseen. I appreciate any advice.

P.S. Part of the reason we want to hide the TV is that we do not watch it everyday, and want make room for a refurbished wood console TV that we turned into an aquarium, without making the room look cluttered and ill placed.

Thanks,
