Bassett /NC Shopping

I am getting furniture quotes online from the big NC stores; Boyles, Lex and Furnitureland but none of them seem to carry Bassett. I'm trying to lump all my purchases together and can't find one place that can do it all. I need the follwoing mfg's; American Drew, Stanley, Lexinton Home (Tommy Bahama) and Bassett. Anyone know who would carry all of them?

i would never buy from bassett again! the customer service for my area in manassas, va. was -- i can not say strongly enough-- HORRIBLE My reclining sofa from them began to fall apart one month after i got it and it took me 11 months to resolve it i could never get in touch with the customer service it was a recording and then when i finally did talk to them they kept putting me off I finally demanded my money back after trying to get it fixed for 11 months just thought u should know hope your customer service center is not located in Manassas!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh No! We bought a Bedroom set from Bassett 10 years ago and it's beautiful. It's our guest room set so it doesn't get used a whole lot but the quality is awesome. I'm wondering if some of their stuff is now being manufactured elsewhere like many of the other furniture guys? As for their customer service, that stinks! Ugh! Now I have to re-think my choices. I just love their John Elway Sectional and had planned to use it in our Bonus room. I also wanted another bedroom set from them that looks so nice in the store. It's the Reef Bay collection. Anyone else have good or bad stories about Bassett?

Real, actual beaches. Great seafood at the coast. It's been said but I'll say it again too: gardening all year, and some bloom every season of the year. I lived in Pennsylania for 3 years (where the roads are all to hell because of the constant freezing and thawing) and winter was a lot more restrictive up there than summer is down here. In Pennsylvania no one complained about Christmas lights being up all January; for one thing, the lights were rather cheery, and two, you'd break your neck on the ice trying to get them down. Annova, That sounds like such a horrible experience! Here's an answer for everyone else. I suppose you can always go to see furniture in NC, since their showrooms are so big, but this is what I've found and heard from my friends: Go to the store, sit in the furniture. Just make sure when you're in the store to write down the EXACT furniture brand, model numbers, and/or fabrics. Then go home & shop around online. You can Google the name brand, make some calls & buy. Google is especially great when you're looking to buy name brands. If I'm buying something small, I usually don't care... but you can save SO much $ on furniture and other big purchases. Not to mention you can often get free shipping, no sales tax deals. Have fun looking for those great deals online. :)

I purchased a queen-sized bed and a chest in their Elvis Presley line, and I love it. It was very well made, sturdy with beautiful woods. I would not hesitate to buy from them in the future. I hope this helps.

The thing with a sleeper is no matter what type of spring unit is used, it is not used when you are installing a sleeper mechanism. I am sure that Basset uses a plywood frame and a 5/4 hardwood frame would be better, but you will find that most manufacturers do use plywood frames.You might want to look at what type of mechanism they use, what cushions they use, do they have an option for example of a spring down cushion which would be good to use in a sleep sofa as when you sit on a sleep sofa you are essentially sitting on a folded up mattress which is a very firm surface. You might also want to look at their mattress and see if there are any options. Keep in mind that sleep sofas do not sit as well as sofas. However if you need a sleep sofa and you are happy with the fabric and the tailoring than I think Basset would be as good as most in the industry.

Of course I could be wrong, but I am fairly certain that Bassett sells their own furniture DIRECT (and only direct)- that is what I was told and it is also what their website suggests. Check out their website and give the customer service folks a call.If you are looking at upholstered pieces, I would definitely encourage you to research their spring system, overall construction and the cushion quality. I have showroom just down the road and they have some good looking stuff, but the construction did not meet my standards. Happy shopping! Belle

I purchased a Louis Phillippe bedroom set from National Mt. Airy about 10 years ago. Just before delivery of the furniture, I was told that they were being bought out by Bassett. The sales person I was working with told me that Bassett was not nearly as good quality as National Mt. Airy and that their customer service was lacking. (BTW, I would only rate National Mt. Airy as mid-level to begin with).

Also - I agree with belle_va in that they only sell direct from their own stores and not through NC - sames as say Ethan Allen. About two or three years ago, I visited a Bassett Direct store to see if they had a sleigh bed similar to my National Mt. Airy. I have a queen and was considering changing to a King. When I compared their furniture to NMA, I agree, it didn't even come close in quality and construction.
