It could be a different product, when I bake cakes for people who want a whipped cream type frosting I use Pastry-Pride, it comes in quart containers at Smart & Final, there is also a product called Frostin-Pride. They whip wonderfully and hold. They are available in white & chocolate, although I do not like the chocolate, I make mine choco by adding dry unsweetened cocoa (Drost)then whip it all together, with the white I add clear vanilla flavoring, or you could add any flavor you like. If you want a tru whipped cream frosting you can try a product called "Whip-it" it is a powder you mix in the cream. Or you can stabilize w. cream with gelatin For 2 cups of cream: use 1 teaspoon gelatin soaked in 2 tablespoons cold water, heat slightly until fully disolved, let cool but do not let it fully set up. then add to the cream & whip.

My mother has a couple of those dispensers. She brought some back from a visit to Germany at least 20 years ago. We use them all the time when we have dessert at her house. I love them, but haven't gotten around to getting one for myself. I think she gets her cartridges at the hardware store. They work really well, and make whip cream in seconds. Just remember to hold it completely upside down before pulling the trigger. Especially if it's not completely full. Otherwise, it can splatter a bit.

I've read it is not good for cheesecake but I don't make cheesecake anyway. I have seen recipes for cheesecake using it in Cooking Light magazine, but I dunno if the recipes are any good. Probably not good in danish and the like either. I use it mostly to spread on bagels and toast and english muffins, in which case it tastes just fine. I top it with a dab of homeade jam, yum. Great with lox, since that has a strong taste so I don't miss the extra taste for that application. Fine with those dream eggs, because they were flavored with the herbs anyway, and the neufatchel just added a wonderful creamy texture, even with 1/3 less fat. Since cream cheese is almost pure fat, 1/3 less doesn't make it a diet food by any means, but I like it just as well if not better than cream cheese for what I use it for, so that's what I buy for the calorie savings. I don't mind it in party spreads either. I freeze excess cream and use it later to make ice cream or custards. When I make waffles, I like to substitute cream for 1/4 of the milk, and you can do the same for pancakes. If you use it in biscuits, they will be more like scones, which you already make. Waffles and pancakes that are made with partial cream are much fluffier than regular ones.
