You did the right thing. I ordered flooring from Floormall.com because I had a chance to save $300. I'm now out almost $3,000 because the flooring was garbage. The manufacturer made the decision to take back the flooring, but Floormall.com won't refund the money.

I have heard good an bad about floormall. Ifloors is suppose to be good. I was in the same dilima but it appears our flooring place got a better deal on the wood than originally quoted. Its worth a bit more to have it be the installers responsibility should something go wrong.

Won't refund the money??? That sounds fishy? Have you even tried your credit card company, to refute the charge, with the documentation you have.

credit card chargebacks can occurr within a year of purchase.

The statement about a wholesaler giving better flooring to a local company than an internet company may be exactly what happened here. About half the boxes we received looked like they were either repackaged rejects (almost every piece of flooring was dented or defective) or had been sitting around in a warehouse for years. They didn't have the ends to the boxes and a lot of flooring had fallen out. I'll bet a local company would have only had good boxes delivered.

The flooring should be covered by the manufacturer warranty, but the wholesaler (who delivered the crappy flooring) was the group to come out and evaluate it. It's like the IRS deciding you need to be audited, then telling you to check things yourself. Um, does that make sense? My installer said they were going to do whatever they could to NOT take the flooring back. The whole thing was a disaster.

I still strongly suggest people buy from a local company or have the installer order it. Every conversation I had with the wholesaler and the manufacturer said it was a mistake to deal with internet companies.

I did try to get the money back from the credit card company, but because we had installed 100 square feet (for my installer to realize we had too much flooring with manufacturer defects), the credit card company said my 1700 square feet should not have been returned without authorization. The manufacturer decided to have the flooring returned (not any request of mine), so the internet company kept thousands of dollars.

I had good luck buying flooring online. I would only purchase brand name products from reputable sellers. The savings for me was closer to 40% ($7.10 sq/ft + 8% tax vs 4.55 sq/ft). You should also confirm with the manufacturer that they warranty internet sales. In general, I've heard the brand name manufacturers stand behind their products. I would never buy the no name or little known brand name junk out there. Its usually just of bunch of shorts with poor milling.

you can get a good deal on quality flooring when you buy on the internet. i would just make sure the company i dealt with had been in business for a while. preferably the site would simply be an online storefront for a long established business like carpets of dalton, beckler's etc... as for the return on your product, the manufacturers do insist that any claims product be returned for inspection and they usually will give a full refund on damaged or off goods. they probably did, but it sounds like you got screwed by an installer. it really is unfortunate that manufacturers won't deal directly with customers involved in claims.

I was going to order Kahrs floors online and then noticed at Kahrs own website that they pretty much refuse to warrant any product of theirs sold online! Make sure you know the manufacturers policy. I will now just buy it at Home Depot since I looked at their wood and was surprised to see the price was very competitive. I'm going for something basic, Bruce gunstock, perhaps a high end wood would allow more savings online. In this case, after shipping, I pretty much break even for 400 Sq. feet if I buy at the local store vs. the Internet

why would a mfctr deal with a consumer? You bought from a retailer, but the retailer bought from the distributor who bought from the mill. To the mfctr the distributor is their customer. If you buy on the internet the local distributor is cut out as the internet store will buy from the distr closest to their main office (in most cases). Problem is the claim has to be looked at by local dealer. That is why internet sales is such a can of worms as some on here have discovered.

A manufacturer cannot say there is no warranty on any product they produce, no matter who sold it as their representative. There has to be a warranty on everything made. It is in the warranty laws.
My state has it's own warranty laws for materials and labor craftsmanship, on construction related sales, that adds more protection to the federal laws.

When a claim is filed, the manufacturer has the responsibility to have it inspected, no matter who sold it or where it is installed, even if it is exported.

This customers complaint is absolutely false. This customer ordered flooring from Floormall.com and installed over 100 sq feet. After installing this amount she decided she did not like the width of the flooring she purchased. If we delivered flooring in terrible shape then 1. why did she accept the delivery? 2. why did she install it? If she would of read our Terms and Policies at
http://www.floormall.com/disclaimer.php she would of seen that once you install your flooring, (especially 100 sqft of it), you can not return it. That is the industry standard. This customer has also filed 2 complaints with the Virginia Commonwealths Attorneys office. Of course they sided in Floormall.coms favor. If you would like to see the letter as proof to this customers false claims please email us directly at customerservice@floormall.com, subject Virginia Commonwealth letter. This customer also issued a chargeback with VISA/MASTERCARD and lost her dispute due to the fact that she had no basis for a claim to begin with. As a potential customer to any business you are very fortunate to do your do-diligence on the company you purchase from. Unfortunately as a business owner you can not do your do-diligence on your customer base. If we had the opportunity to sell to this customer again we would definately refer this customer to our competitors. Rembember this, just because someone post on a forum does not mean it is the truth until you hear both sides of the story.

OMG. I can't believe this. This is more reason not to buy from Floormall.com. See how he says I changed my mind about the width of the flooring. Please contact Somerset Flooring and ask them if I decided to return the flooring or if *they* decided to return the flooring.

I wasn't going to go into this, but Floormall.com has shown a habit of being dishonest. Marc Henderson posted a review about his great purchase from Floormall.com then admitted he was president in another review (duh). He was illegally using copyrighted material from another web site. He's aware the Commonwealth Attorney does not find in favor of anyone (they just look for patterns of illegal behavior). I'd love to have a copy of that letter he's offering... if it says what he claims, it's a fraud... and I'd like to send it to the Commonwealth Attorney.

The flooring had a manufacturer warranty. The manufacturer decided to have the flooring returned. Floormall.com kept their profit plus money returned to them by the wholesaler.

Is this really the kind of company you want to send thousands of dollars to?

You make it sound like you paid twice for the same flooring, when it sounds like they made it right, and satisfied your claim at no extra cost to you. No one got paid twice, as your trying to confuse people to believe.

I just placed an order with Hosking Hardwood over the internet and they couldn't be nicer and more accomodating. They've called me twice for confirmation and followup on the order.
