Comments (31)I was driving home from college and had to pass under a railroad trestle that diagnolled the street. As I was coming up to the bridge, an 18 wheeler lost a tire and rim, that rolled across 3 lanes of traffic, hit the concrete pillar of the trestle, bounced back across 4 lanes of traffic, across a parking lot and landed in the back of a pickup truck parked in front of a car repair shop. Everyone in all 4 lanes of traffic, slowed down and watched it all happen, no one was hit. The guys in the shop came out and just stared. I don't think the driver even knew he had lost his wheel. Back in the late 70's when I-15 finally was finished and didn't go through Las Vegas, DH and I were heading for California. It was late afternoon and had been raining off and on. I looked over at the skyline of Vegas and there was a huge rainbow over the entire city. A Kodak moment and I didn't have a camers. Swear!!!...See MoreWhat do you think if you have seen it?
Comments (18)People cash in on dead relatives all the time, but this sounds like it beats the Jacksons. But so many people want to "forgive and forget" and "take the high road" and he'll cash in on it. All for someone who's sole lifetime accomplishment has been to hit a ball with a stick and then chase it. That's something to idolize, isn't it? Even my dog would have *me* throw the ball before he'd chase it!...See MoreHave you seen quality wood screendoors for entry?.
Comments (15)Wow elenkao! Even if it's not yours and Chelone's I do believe it is mine! There are some really wonderful doors on here! So glad you remembered it. Now I must go look some more and then...shudder...check the prices. Even if do not see one on a house I do believe one of these would look very nice here on mine. california dreamer....Here in Calif.:>) I ordered a Coppa screened door via my local lumber store. Felt better having a local source ( in case of problems) as was custom size. Believe it saved on shipping, too. It's on a side door and is not fancy, but just fine. kec01...I am drooling over your beautiful lawn and trees, and how much of it there is! natal...Yes I know. Once visited a friend "back home" and was so looking forward to the soft, warm breeze of my childhood wafting through the window, only to discover they kept their storm doors and windows on year round...yuk! Yep johnmari, truly the sound of summer memories! Well, thanks everyone for all your help. Glad I'm not alone in my love of screen doors...See MoreWhat's the oddest thing you've seen
Comments (63)"Elmer, in the house hunting shows I've seen, people are always trying to get ready in the morning at the exact same time" House hunting shows? No, I'm talking about people. Couples don't necessarily have the same "get out of bed and get ready" times and many don't. My wife and I never have. If one gets up early to leave for a commute to work and the other stays at home to look after the kids, the second one will very likely stay in bed. My wife was often still sleeping when I left for work. That's not so unusual. I couldn't have done that with an open bathroom portal. Double sinks may facilitate getting ready at the same time but don't focus on that as their prime reason. It gives each person their own space for storage and to keep their own things. Their own sink to use. And much more space for each than if sharing one sink. We've had this for decades, have the same at our new second place, and I wouldn't consider having a bathroom with other than double sinks. The benefits are numerous....See Morekathy_
