I'm looking for a bra to wear at home. I thought about a sports bra but they smoosh me and makes me look funny.

Because of my asthma, don't wear bras at home, but I really should, so can anyone suggest a lightweight bra that I can wear without feeling like I'm wearing a bra?

Yes, I need to go through my drawers (so to speak :) ) and liberate the older underpants. New, colorful underwear makes me feel so up-to-date!

After nearly 2 years of nursing and very very few choices in larger sizes for nursing bras (which are now in rough shape), I went out and bought a couple of real bras myself (at the same place ;) ). Wow they fit so nice. I haven't worn underwire in 2 years either (it can cause plugged ducts)but I forgot how much nicer they look on me (I bought underwire). Now I just need to go somewhere without the kid to have an excuse to use them :D He's still nursing and probably won't be stopping anytime soon but hoping to be able to switch over to real bras soon anyway.

Ya'll wear underwear? There's such a sense of freedom going without!!!!

I have not bought myself a new bra in 2 years. Currently trying to shed the excess 30lbs. (that accumulated after 3 pregnancies)by training for a triathlon. So far I'm down 7, and once I hit 10lbs. down, plan on rewarding myself with a new bra. After I get all 30 off, I'm tossing it all, and buying all new! Can't wait :)

Oakleyoak, Vioctoria's Secret had a full coverage bra that's very comfortable. I'm not sure if it's still being made or not.

Last month I was cleaning with Tilex & had my airway close. The bra I had on was the pits; put on the full coverage & it was the only one I could wear that didn't give me any pressure on my lungs.

I try to treat myself every few months, even if it's buying 1 new bra. I get all sorts of coupons for Victorias - free panty & $10 off a bra & if I manage to catch a net sale, even better :)

Timely post pesky. I too just bought some new underthings this week. As was taking the tags off this afternoon, your post reminded me it was time to rid the drawers of the old stuff. Cleaning those drawers led to the rest of the bureau. LOL I am hoping to start purging my closet tomorrow.

oakleyok, check out Decent Exposures for soft bras that still have supportive cups instead of either squashing or flopping-around. They're a wee bit pricey, but they're also 100% custom made in a range of materials and colors. If you're having problems with having something snug around the ribcage, they can substitute a 2" lycra band for the usual (covered) elastic. No, they're not elegant, they're not sexy, but they ARE comfortable as hell. They're also making a MUCH larger range of items than they were even five years ago - swimsuits, underpants for both sexes and all ages, "regular clothes" like tops and yoga pants, baby stuff, etc. etc. (Lisa, they do a good nursing bra too.)

DH does the laundry so I buy new underwear when he tells me to. LOL I do admit that in my "old age" I'm become the "six-pack o' Hanes/JMS for $9.99" type - at least they come in colors now - no more $15-each undies for me. (Took me forever to find a bra that fit even somewhat well... I bought six, since there were rumors of its being discontinued. Used to love one Body By Victoria full coverage but they did something to the sizing and a 40DD became, well, not a 40DD anymore even though my weight hadn't changed.)

That is what I found too mari...the size is different. I bought the four bras also because the sales girl told me that this was a test item and may not be carried in the future. WTHeck?? A non-wire bra that supports like an underwire, gives great coverage, support, no plastic AND has a wide band in back that is comfortable and may not carry it?? Nuts!

Once you're past a C cup, you NEED support and wider straps, etc, but you still want a cute bra. I also prefer good coverage...no 'headlights' in mixed company.

Mari, do those give you the uniboob look? Not sure how to better ask that :D I wore one of my new ones yesterday and it was so nice to feel like "myself" again with the girls how I remember them before baby ;)

Was shopping with DM for new underthings this week. I couldn't believe how few bras there were with no underwire. DM doesn't want underwire and we hunted high and low and came up with very little.

According to some site about bras, you should replace your bras that you wear regularly about every 6 months, since they do stretch and lose their shape.

Never have seen so many women in worn, ratty, mis-fitting bras as I did when I worked bridal. The word is that about 60% of women are wearing the wrong size bra, and I can attest to that.

Yes, funny. I just bought 4 new bras. I can't seem to get much wear out of them before they start becoming uncomfortable or unsupportive. Every 6 months? Sounds right. I'm a 34 D and hate bras.

I recently bought 6 new bras at our local JC Penney. I've been buying my bras there for years because there's a wonderful sales lady who really knows how to fit you for the correct size and style. She's an absolute gem! Between the buy 2 get 1 free sale, clearance selection and additional savings coupon I ended up paying $58 for 6 bras. Now that's what I call a savings ;o)

Wow Mrs. Marv, you REALLY got a deal. I'll have to tell my MIL about JCPenny. She'd been buying a bra from some mail order company, and it amounted to not much more than a couple of nylon socks! She doesn't know what size she wears and wants to be fitted properly, but doesn't want to spend the $ like I do on bras. So maybe JCPenny can get her a nice deal and a good fitter.

Lisa, I call it "monoboob" :-) No, no monoboob like sports bras (ugh) - go look at the website to see the structure. There's a thingy between the ta-tas that keeps 'em apart, and if you use one of the firmer fabrics and the straps are done to the right length you do get some reasonable lift. Not like "melons under your collarbone lift" (which I do admit is my preference, ski-slope boobs ick me big-time - just not attractive to me) The plain 100% cotton is more "keep 'em from flopping around" rather than for more serious support while you're really active.
