Ladies, what skincare products do you use and love?
Comments (78)Don't smoke or drink either. And there's no question that desert is a major food group! :)) I use Olivia Care Olive Oil Soap on my face and in the shower - love the Verbena scent and all those suds! In the winter I don't need moisturizer. I buy it at TJMaxx. For 20 years I've used a Buff Puff on my face. For facial moisturer Jergens Skin Firming Lotion. I've used several others that I really liked, and every time I ran out and went to buy more, they were discontinued or had added obnoxious fragrance. How exasperating! I don't like the strong fragrance in the heavier duty "regenerating" lotions. I find that smiling works best on the Howdy Doody lines - hate those things! Can't bring myself to lay out $20 for a tiny little jar so I guess this is it. Sherry...See MoreQuestions and more questions
Comments (2)"1) How long will it take before the seeds from the weeds get zapped? (Or will they ever?)" I'm not sure I understand what you mean. If you're asking how long it will take for the seeds to be killed during composting, I don't remember exactly, but I do remember that the compost has to get pretty hot (135-140F). "2) Should I put my compost pile in the sun or shade?" Yes. The compost heats up through bacterial activity, so it doesn't matter whether it's in sun or shade. "3) I have a tiny rotor tiller (one for flower beds) that I plan to use to rotate the pile. Is that going to work? Or should I plan on some other approach?" There are people who post here who use tillers, so that should work. Depending on the size of the pile, a bulb auger may work also....See MoreSkincare after cast help plz!
Comments (29)I just squirt Cetaphil lotion on a hot wrung out washcloth and go to town. Most of the old dead skin comes off that day then I try real hard not to fuss at it but once a day. It's a lot like a peeling sunburn. It needs to go but let it come of when it's ready. Moisturize heavily after and put a thick sock on. When I got the casts off my feet decades ago I was delighted when the calluses came off along with all the old skin so look for that. Ask if you can soak your foot, don't submerge that scar unless you clear it with your medical team. And it happened that a talk show had a segment on how to massage feet that week which was heavenly even if I did it myself....See MoreThe Best Skin-Care Trick is Being Rich
Comments (14)I read that article, but there is a lot wrong with it, starting with the assumption that just because a procedure is expensive it must work well. I can well remember playing a dinner at world famous jeweler's on Worth Avenue quite a few years ago, at a time when they were starting to get back a lot of their more significant pieces, 'cause the heirs didn't want jewelry that had to live in the bank. It was also the time when the women who were of the Ali McGraw generation (little LP shift, pulled back short ponytail) were starting to get way up there in age. You don't get an invite to a private dinner for a necklace unless you have some moola to spend, and this necklace traveled with a retinue, including one guy whose whole job it was to take the necklace out of the case and put it on the stand, then put it on the model for the walkaround, then put it away again. I didn't play during walkarounds (they wanted everyone focused on the jewelry), and he came over and sat next to me, in very high glee. "Look at this one, look at this one!" he chortled as another woman who should have known better than to maintain that cruel hairstyle after 70 came under his eye. "Even money can't save you!" And of course he was right. Yeah, the super-rich look groomed, but in reality their skin mostly doesn't look that much better than that of the middle classes. And at that point in my life, my work gave me plenty of opportunity to observe....See Morestinky-gardener
