I need skin care help!
Comments (12)A good, caring, results-oriented aesthetician makes all the difference. I found that the dermatologist or cosmetic surgeons want to go right into aggressive treatments. And they're so expensive. Depending on where you live, a series of anti-aging facials will cost $50 to $100 each and the aesthetician can recommend a home skincare plan will make all the difference. Sure, it won't make wrinkles go away but facials will help stimulate new skin cell growth and maintain what you have. (By the way, yes, that aforementioned website looks shady but I was also accused of being spam when I shared a home beauty recipe that was garden related. I was afraid to come back...)...See MoreArticle on the rich vs the wanna seem rich
Comments (22)A lot of good, albeit, divergent points, have been made here. I agree with Cmarlin that one can be as smug about being frugal as one can be arrogant about being well-to-do. Either way, the person is forming their self-concept & identity around their spending habits or/and net worth. Billl's point that home sizes have exploded is noteworthy. As someone who was house hunting in 2006 (& purchased when the market was sky high) I was looking around like crazy for a small house in a decent neighborhood. Such a configuration is nearly impossible to find! I bought a house with a little under 2600 sq. ft. Would I have preferred 1700? Yes. I bought a house with a big front lawn. Would I have preferred a smaller lawn? Absolutely. It just didn't work out that way. Billl also notes the "massive home improvement" industry. Yes, & I "need" to update my kitchen & baths to the tune of oh so much money it makes me sick...IF...I ever am to sell this house. Why? Because expectations have been greatly influenced by this reno trend. I was just "out of it" enough not to even realize when I bought the house, that my rooms were dated! (Our seller was really lucky!) I can make peace with my dated rooms, but will suffer at selling time if I don't "keep up with the Joneses!" I have little if any need to impress others, but I need to survive in this world! There are lots of reasons why people do what they do. Many of us are just trying to deal with the unanticipated changes, I guess, brought about by the economic downturn. We feel the need to protect this fragile investment called a "home." It can be scary & depressing, but we've got to hang in there, & have faith & hope that things will "bounce back."...See MoreSkin Care
Comments (14)Lascatx and kswl, I found Beautypedia after posting here the other day. It's owned by Paula Begoun, The Cosmetics Cop (Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me The Original Beauty Bible). Philosophy and Hope in a Jar are not rated very high there on average, but if they are working for you then that's great. Roc, DD1 just looked over my shoulder and said she used to use a few Epicuren products, but prefers SkinCeuticals. She just started using a sample of SkinCeuticals Resveratrol B E - expensive, but loves it. I borrowed, used once and it was nice. I have been using (don't laugh) varies systems of Principal Secret since 1997. Every time she creates a new system I try and end up moving on to it. Currently using the Reclaim Botanical and discovered some eye serum and something for fine lines starting over my upper lip (need to stop kissing those grandbabies so much!). I'm going to use these and see if there is an improvement. If not, I will try something else. Anyway, the PS must be working because everyone always says what great skin I have, even at the dermatologist office. I've started doing a series of three 5% glycolic peels once a year (each 2-3 weeks apart) and I can really see the difference in my skin afterwards. DD1 got samples of m-61 Power Glow Peels from BlueMercury and said they have helped her skin. There is just so much out there, like said above, it gets confusing. And it's not inexpensive to try new things. What works for some, doesn't work for all and it can get frustrating. fyi, DD1 found the list of authorized SkinCeauticals websites, and the one I asked about in my original post is a no....See MoreBest moisturizers for winter skin (face)...go!
Comments (32)Sheeisback: Sons dermatologist suggested the tub CeraVe for his face. You should be alright. I do what I call "seasoning" my face. On the weekend I'll use a face oil on my face...no make up. Just the oil and let is sink in all day. Sure Im shiny but who cares LOL I also just picked up a new Clarisonic at Costco and they had some CeraVe products with it. A cleanser for normal to dry skin and the AM and PM face moisturizer. I didn't think I'd like the AM one with sunscreen because they tend to be a little greasier but so far so good. I'm going to try to get my kids to start putting it on the in morning too....See Moreleela4
