(I peeked then came back here) Hi DA, Nice to C U Too! (smiles) I am using two RCA inputs on my TV (like you have) but had to dig out my tiny Sony TV for the 3rd component hookup. My old Mitsubishi TV had all three where I could switch to the one I wanted to see without a hassle. I have my DVR hooked up to the Composite ones. I was wanting to get a monitor or TV I could hook all three to use to set below my TV on a shelf. Here is my TV now---- This is my old TV hookup and I used one in front for my 3rd hookup. chuggerguy, I couldn't get that to open. Will try again later. Thanks.

it all depends on your components. some HT's have all the input connections onthe back, then out to the TV. some only have a single in/out to/from the tv and you tie all other things(VCR DVD player) to another input on the TV itself. my TV has 6 inputs on the back, my JVC HT has 8 audio/video inputs on it but none are HDMI. so i have everything going to my TV(HMDI 1,2,3, Video 1,2,3) and then a singel digital audio out of the TV to the HT so that no matter what i am watching i can hear it over the surround sound system. before i got my HD tv, everything wired first to teh JVC, then only a single RCA out to the video in of my old CRT tv. since the new stuff supports HDMi and my HT does not, i had to rewire everything.

Yes, Tracy, you have indeed figured it out! I use splitter cables all over the place (limited to one split per signal line), for splitting the audio to/from my computer, TV, etc., and most all of those devices put out a standard "line level" signal that suffers minimally from being distributed somewhat. (Don't try using those splitters to combine signals, however, as results may be unpredictable...)

Depending on your budget, the best way to accomplish this is to use a multi-zone A/V receiver from a company such as Denon. You will be able to control everything with your phone or a remote control, setup individual speaker zones and have different sources playing in each zone (or the same source playing in all zones at once). Moving on to the speaker situation, ensure that you have proper soffits built to house each speaker as well as a removable grill where you can service and/or replace the speaker(s) over time. This is one of the biggest mistakes people make when installing a whole home system. They buy everything, have it installed, and then a year or two down the road something goes wrong and it's a nightmare to fix. I always design my soffits a bit oversized in case the client decides to change speakers down the road.
