To my diet friends - sad news

Some of you may know I suffer from depression. A lot of person issues have been coming to a head for me - emotionally. My mother passed away yesterday while I was in emergency - which is another story for another day.

Do you ever sense that things are off?

I need to take care of myself and family for awhile but I will be back.

Please keep me in your prayers while I try to find new footing in life.

Peggy

DeeÂdeeÂdee, Yes your feathered friends may look sweet and innocent now but let us look a few short months into the future when your newly adopted family begins to sport their gang colors. Have you not noticed the ever increasing pitch to their call, if you record it and play it backwards it says "The higher destruction of the garden the bigger the buffet" over and over again!! Just think of yourself this August lounging on your deck loftily thinking of your feathered family when suddenly you hear from the tree tops "OH MY GODÂthatÂs her the voyeur Â.and dee, I donÂt have the heart to tell you what comes nextÂI just hope you have a good laundry detergent. kt

Bringing in a new kitty as a friend for my newly-alone old kitty?

camarogirl219, I am so very sorry for your loss. That's a lot of years for you to pack into a single goodbye, I know. My heart aches for you and Daisy, who must be traumatized and disoriented by the loss of her bud. I suspect that the addition of a new feline might be a difficult adjustment for her, but I do think it would be best for her in the long run. I would NOT, however, recommend adopting a male feline UNLESS you find an older adult who is known to be laid back and to live peacefully with other cats. Male kittens and young adults tend to be VERY rowdy, demanding, and rough and relentless in their play. I think that might be completely overwhelming for Daisy. But an older, mellow, well socialized boy might make a wonderful companion for her after the initial adjustment period. A young female kitten might also be a good choice of companion, as they don't tend to be nearly as overwhelming as males. And Daisy might find it easier to accept a young kitten, since she will not see the kitten as either a territorial or physical threat. An adult female probably isn't the best choice, though, as they tend not to bond with other adult females with whom they have not been raised. That's my experience after having integrated many felines of both genders and all ages into my household over the decades. I wish you a peaceful grief and happy future with Daisy et al. Laurie

Sad story.... of my friend :(

Oh no. This is terrible. One of my concerns is the guilt that these kids will feel as they grow older. I had a great relationship with my mom (especially as far as teenage girls and their moms go) and I have still struggled with guilt issues since her death then years ago. I struggle with my own desire to be a normal teenage girl with my own life (healthy) instead of spending every minute with her looking after her while she died of cancer (unhealthy). I can only imagine how your friend's children will struggle with guilt that they "let" their father poison them against their mother, which was her "last straw" before she ended her life. This ISN'T their fault, because they are only children, but I am concerned that they will have HORRIBLE HORRIBLE guilt issues later in life and feel that way. Recall that I have had "honesty pop" this evening: I am frequently overwhelmed by guilt that I asked if I could still go out with my friends that night when my mom told me that she wasn't going to get better and I talked about how I felt with them instead of her. I feel terrible about how that must have made her feel and feel that I was a horrible wretch of a daughter for what I said. But I also know that my mom knew I loved her and just didn't know how to deal at home, so I can (mostly) forgive myself. If I still occasionally feel like a terrible person and bawl my eyes out for that, how will her kids feel?? Poor kids. Their father is a monster for poisoning these children against their mother, setting them up for huge guilt disasters later in life.

Wow, I am deeply touched by your kind words of support. I am more of a lurker than a poster but have come to know that you are all one very special group of people. I also know that so many of you have been through similar heart breaks, and my heart goes out to all of you. Life can be so tough at times, but we do manage to pull through with a "little help from our friends". :-) OJ: We do have an amazing support group, it actually blows me away on how much we are being cared for. Thanks for your concern. Had more to say but the phone keeps ringing and I've lost my train of thought. Will be back later to fill in the blanks. Today is a better day, thanks to all you KT'ers. You truly ROCK! BJ

[[[[McPeg]]]], I was shocked and dismayed to read of your mom's passing. You were a devoted daughter who showed your love in so many ways.

Please take good care of yourself. We all look forward to your return. Share all your concerns if you wish.

Best,
Dee

Peg, I am sorry for your loss. You know we will be here waiting for you but please don't stay gone too long. The longer you are away from your friends the harder it is to get back here......as ironic as that sounds.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

McPeg, How sad. Life pours rain on us sometimes. It just happens so suddenly and it's so shocking. A soul is here, then gone.

(((((((((((((HUGGLES)))))))))))))))))

Please take care of yourself and be careful. Let your family take care of YOU for a while. Rest and cry. Don't let doubt creep in. Go through the stages of loss at your own pace. There are no rules of "how to act" when you lose someone you love.

We'll always be here. Some of us have been here for YEARS. NHSuzanne is right, though, the longer you stay away, the harder it is to return.

But please check in when you feel you are able. We enjoy reading your posts and you have lifted our spirits with your attitude.

Love, BJ

I am doing okay today. Making progress in many paths. I have asked for God to help me for the first time in years and have many friends who are helping me as well as continuing to feel your support. I know my Mom is in a good place and that my sedative medication is history. It was not agreeing with me at all. Like a light switch I am trying hard to take the bull by the horns to take care of myself at this time. Tomorrow is a day to order flowers, clean ourselves up - I will be seeing my family doctor and will start taking responsibility for myself so I can be there in life with my family.
Like all things in life, health - one step forward, one day. My problem with food now is reversed - it's hard to eat but I keep trying and drinking lots of water with our sudden heat wave.
There is strength here and I feel from each of my dear friends. I will be back hopefully next week, but focusing on my health style and choices in life which I hope to learn from. I accept a higher power to guide me through this difficult time and I accept that I believe I have a substance abuse problem which I am determined to address.
Let's make today count - it's precious.
Lots of love to each and everyone of you.
Peggy
