My new feathered friends

Earlier I had posted that there was a bird's nest in a shrub just outside my living room window, and posted a shot of mama sitting on the nest. Here are a few more photos of the three new babies.

I love the little guy on the left here - look at his "hair", lol!

These shots were from last week. It's amazing how fast they have grown since then. Hopefully I'll get more pictures soon to update. There is definitely one guy who is the bigger of the bunch, and he's already throwing his weight around!

Hey all! I am liking this tablet but am missing a key board and mouse. I must be old fashioned, lol. I am trying to stir up a twitter hashtag for us #gwroses but I'm not sure it'll work. I hope it does I really miss the old days here. Y'all became such great friends. I do get free books with kindle, but no free rose dictionary yet...here's hoping. HU Brute I feel the same way !1 I absolutlly love watching the amny birds that come in our yard but for the same reason stopped buying seeds. I did throw in a few sunflowers seeds in one area but seems like someone is eating them just as they begin to come up !! Hmmm. Maybe I will do what the other poster said maybe just once a week or so..I do find that just being outside in the morning looking at my gardening efforts ( Smile) and watching and listening to the different birds and other creatures very calming.I alway's enjoy seeing other members pics of birds ( and other wildlife ) and the information that they provide. Dan and Paula, I will continue to keep you in my prayers and meditations. I know that you don't hold faith in prayer, but positive energy is coming your way in waves. I know it is a very difficult time, and one that you are not in the mood to speak of much. I know what you two are going through. Shortly after the birth of my next to youngest son, my stepmother was diagnosed. Hers had already spread too far before being diagnosed. When my youngest son was a year old, my favorite uncle passed after a 15 year remission. Even my stepmother had several years to enjoy life after her diagnosis, even with it having spread so far there wasn't much that could be done to treat it. If you can have faith in nothing else, have faith in the fact that you are a strong individual who has much left to share with the world. Have faith in the woman at your side who loves you, and your family who does as well. Have faith in the doctors who found this quickly. I had not left off of my prayers and meditations for both of you. In addition to healing and strength (light blue and red), I will also be lighting a pure white beeswax candle, one of the few left to me by my mentor, which holds her blessings and meditations for purity, faith and energy. I hope you feel well enough to join us and just hang out and talk. About anything. Gardening is a way of cleansing the soul and mind. Laurel, Eeww was right! But now it is done! Hooray!!! It was soooo baaad! I want to thank you for these awesome gifts: -a very nice mix of finch seed -a nut and fruit seed bell-Laurel, I love to hang these on the porch as I can get a close up view from my sitting chair in the living room. -seeds-salvia(St. John's fire), purple coneflower, chianti sunflower, gaillardia, brilliant red poppy, Will Rogers zinnia, and gloriosa daisy. The birds will have a heyday with many of those flowers. Thank you! -double chocolate Ghirardelli coffee-oh YUM! -cute decoration shaped like a birdhouse with sunflowers painted on it that says, "Harvest Home Inn" -a beautiful hummingbird windchime -4 separate hanging birdhouse decorations-each is done in a different color with a different flower and a different saying-the sayings are Love, Hope, Faith, and Peace--These are very, very cute!!! The paintings of the flowers on them is so tiny and detailed. Hope has blue morning glories, love has yellow sunflowers, faith has a pink/white lily, and I am unsure what flower peace has, but it is a pretty blue. These are just soooo neat!!! -English Teatime tea in a cute Happy Holidays box that has a couple of cheery, fat birds on the front. -a tube of Baume Du Jardinier the Gardener's Hand Healer-it smells wonderful and makes my hands feel smooth and silky. It has shea butter in it. -a holiday tin with a winter scene of a farmstead all decked out in snow and greenery and a beautiful cardinal or two. The tin itself is full of Hershey's mint truffles. These are deLISH!!!!! You can't just stop at 1 or 2. Laurel, thank you so very, very much for the wonderful box of goodies for our feathered friends AND for me. Wasn't this a fun swap? Cute! They really grow fast, don't they? I had robins on the outside windowsill in front of my kitchen sink last year. What a mess the nest left - a big hunk of mud!

Yes your feathered friends may look sweet and innocent now but let us look a few short months into the future when your newly adopted family begins to sport their gang colors. Have you not noticed the ever increasing pitch to their call, if you record it and play it backwards it says "The higher destruction of the garden the bigger the buffet" over and over again!! Just think of yourself this August lounging on your deck loftily thinking of your feathered family when suddenly you hear from the tree tops "OH MY GODÂthatÂs her the voyeur Â.and dee, I donÂt have the heart to tell you what comes nextÂI just hope you have a good laundry detergent. kt

Oh my God, Katie, you just made me laugh out loud!

I suppose you are not feeling too kindly toward robins at the moment, and I honestly can't blame you. I saw the photo of the destruction, and it was sad. I guess I would feel the same way if someone told me that they thought voles were cute, lol.

At this point, the most distress I've felt is when I see the mother and/or father approaching the nest with a mouthful of worms, and I start thinking, darn, I wish they would stop eating so many of my worms. I need them in the garden!

Claire, I can't look at the pictures now without thinking they are singing, lol!

Great pictures! Blooms and birds; two of my favorite things. DH and I are feeling a little lonely. We have bluebird nesting boxes around our property. I just love the males colors. They are such good parents. Either Mom or Dad were always right next to the box. Since the first day (that we know about) the little guys took flight we haven't seen them or their parents. I guess our missing the little guys gives new meaning to "empty nest syndrome".
