Hello, my friends -my new way to GW

My dear rosy friends,
For a while I struggled to use the computer to visit GW but typing was difficult for me. For my birthday, my dh gave me a tablet so I could compute in a comfortable way. Typing is still tough, but I am thrilled that I now have an easier way to 'see' my rosy friends.
I want to hear how everyone is, and how their gardens are growing.

That's a sweet gift from your DH. Enjoy your tablet, that's great that it will make your computer time more comfortable.

I'm looking forward to spring pruning, it's been a long winter but soon it will be time to plant and get out in the garden again...

Glad to hear from you, Carlota. I think this particular forum is dead.
Anyway, my garden is great, though a little wind battered and dry. I post my photos on the Gallery.
Did you know that you most likely can get a free Kindle app for your tablet? My hubby did and he now reads my Kindle books. Just thought I 'd mention it.

Make sure you leave a gap between TAG lines, twins, or your pics will run together and stretch out the board. Your last 2 photos are of Neo. johannis. I don't recognize the others, although the second one is probably some kind of spectabilis hybrid. As far as things being named twice, there can be many different cultivars of the same species. There may be little differences that you're not seeing, or two people may have named the same clone independently. There's nothing in the registration process that prevents this, just as there is nothing to prevent two or more different hybridizers from crossing the same two plants, or from registering two or more unrelated plants that just happen to look amazingly similar. It happens all the time.

Welcome to Florida. I'm originally from the Chicago area and love the gardening here. The 7 years I lived here have taught me that gardening is completely different here. I have a few questions for you. Will anyone take care of trimming, weeding etc while you're gone? Some plants such as plumbagos grow real quickly, while crotons and pygmy date palms grow much slower. There also are summer and winter annuals. Impatiens which are grown in the summer up north are used in the winter here, by May they have a hard time surviving the heat, while purslane and vincas love the summer heat. In zone 9b most years will have a little bit of frost a couple mornings, and a bit of a freeze once every couple of years (except for Jan 2010 which was very cold for Florida). The East coast tends to be warmer than the West coast at night also. Also the amount of sunlight you get where you want to plant is important, and are there awnings or anything else that stop the rain from watering your plants?

Hi! We moved here right after Charlie, so we've been here almost 4 years. We actually had a contract on a home in Punta Gorda, and it was destroyed. We are from Maine originally, but are just so happy here that I can't imagine going back to the cold! We really feel at home here :) Cathy

How are you feeling?--There is a box at the bottom and you will know when someone posts---I don't remember having this service but it is nice

Hey all!
I am liking this tablet but am missing a key board and mouse. I must be old fashioned, lol.
I am trying to stir up a twitter hashtag for us #gwroses but I'm not sure it'll work. I hope it does I really miss the old days here. Y'all became such great friends.

I do get free books with kindle, but no free rose dictionary yet...here's hoping.

Florence, each day has been a struggle but my family and roses are my reason d'etre. How are you feeling???? I truly hope all is well!
