Turning compost? Hasn't everybody heard of Ruth Stout by now? Actually, I do have a 3 bin compost system made with pallets but with animals on site that leave the coarser hay in the mangers and their manure, the bins are a necessary evil. There is no turning though. I may pull off a little intact stuff to start the next pile but I don't mind unfinished compost one bit. Nearing 58 and doing the arithritis/carpal tunnel syndrome thing for 20+ years now. I just work until I'm tired and stop to go do something that isn't so physically stressful. No need to make the next day harder on myself. Things will either get done or they won't. One of our apple trees threw some root suckers last year and now my curiosity is piqued to try grafting some trees. So what, I'll be nearing 70 by the time the trees are big enough to produce. It will just make the apples taste better.

Susan, You're welcome. With your interest in tomatoes, there are two books I highly recommend. I first read them about 7 or 8 years ago when I was trialing large numbers of open-pollinated types and I wanted to know more about where all these tomatoes came from. The first is by Andrew F. Smith and is "The Tomato in America: Early History, Culture and Cookery", University of South Carolina Press, 1994, and my copy is a paperback copy published by the University of Illinois in 2001. I enjoyed every bit of it and have reread it several times. I especially enjoyed the section on the tomato as medicine. Before reading it, I didn't know that "tomato pills" were a form of snake oil medicine touted to cure every ill known to mankind, and there was a great tomato pill war between competing manufacturers/sellers. I kind of giggled my way through that part of the book. There's also a bunch of fascinating very old recipes dating back to at least the 1800s. The other is the book about early tomato breeder and seed seller A. W. Livingston and is called "A. W. Livingston and the Tomato". It was written by A. W. Livingston and his sons and was first published in 1893. After reading it, I went to Victory Seeds, which is the online source for the most varieties of Livingston Seeds you'll find in one place with their authentic history, and bought every variety of Livingston tomatoes they had. I still grow one or two Livingston tomato varieties every year. I bought both of these books "used" for very reasonable prices on Amazon.com long ago and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of them. There are many more 'technical' tomato books out there, but I wanted these for the history. I've read 10 or 15 tomato books in the last decade, and there hasn't been a bad one in the bunch. Dawn

i have a 1999 philips magnavox big screen model #9p6034 c102 was watching tv and then it made a static sound and then no noise, i have tryed to turn off & on tv and put volunm up & down but nothing. the picture is working fine, just cant hear anything. please help!!!! it's driving me nut's not hearing anything thanks and the chassis model number is ptv835

I like the rug you are now buying, I actually prefer it over the first choice. All Fed ex orders have tracking and I know from personal experience when something doesn't get delivered, Fed ex investigates, esp with something worth $1500. In my case, it was tires for Dh's corvette, about $1200 for 2 tires. I had calls from fed ex and then a fed ex rep who showed up at my door to get a statement- there were multiple cases of lost deliverys that week in my neighborhood. Anyway, a neighbor 4 streets over found our tires along with a few other packages at a house where the residents were out of town (well, deployed and wife went to her parents). So, I let fed ex know because they were cutting my check the following day. TUrns out there was a substitute driver who just wanted to be done for the day so he started dumping packages wherever so he could return (they are supposed to come back with an empty truck). I would stay on top of this next rug. I would want tracking info asap. How long does your cc allow you to file? It would probably be be based on your original charge, not todays date since you were not refunded and then charged anew. I hope you bring us good news and pictures of the rug in your dining/reading room.
