Newbie to here and to Weight Watchers

Hello! My name is Jan and I just joined WW after many chubby years (just over 200 lbs)

I thought this would be a nice place to confide and encourage. I hope I will be welcome here.

Hi Jan,

Tikanas is right - come on over to the SS support thread. Our group follows a couple of different programs. I personally follow WW and so do a couple of others. You will definitely find the encouragement you need there! Hope to "meet" you there.

All, Sorry - work has kept me crazy and have not been able to write. Doing reasonably ok, been plateaued, but let's be honest, I have not really exercised, and if I didn't drink so much wine, I could lose faster :-) However, I went on my cruise early in April, and lost a half pound! I made very good choices, which you can do now on a ship. Plus you know, when you've been eating WW for a while, you really can't eat too much rich food without getting a stomach ache. So I want to keep it up, therefore I am trying this week to start going back to the gym that I have been paying for, for years, but because of work or commitments with DD, never went. Well I just can't lose without the exercise to go with it. Hope I can stick with it this time! Last night I made a fagiole soup that was in a pamphlet they gave us. And I bought the wrong beans, not soup beans but pinto beans, which are like refried beans in consistency. I had also bought the 'flat out bread' they talked about in last week's meeting. Ever tried it? It's great. So I put the beans in, one slice of lacy swiss cheese, and lots of salsa. Heated in microwave, and yum!!!! A low point burrito! Below is a link to the flat out web page. I've been a member forever, but have not done the program in quite a few years. As far as I know, the eating plan is healthy and provides structure if you need that. Also, some people are helped by knowing they need to weigh in at the meetings so it helps keep one on the straight and narrow. But of course you do not need to fear anyone saying anything if you pick up a few pounds in a week. It happens. I've found the presentations fun, interesting and educational. I remember a man at one meeting saying that since he had lost weight, he was able to give up his diabetes meds. That made an impression on me. It would be fun to do it with friends. If you're not a joiner, maybe it's time to "step outside the box" and try something new with buddies. You could learn a lot. Back when I was a member, WW sold all kinds of measuring spoons, gadgets, magazines and other paraphenalia to help. Unless you see something you feel sure would help you, I'd pass on most of that stuff. That said--I've recently lost about 10 lbs. just by eating mostly what I want but just much less and reducing carbohydrates somewhat (not completely). Also, no cookies, candy or other sugary treats, and of course no sodas at all. I'm also walking every day. Whatever you decide, best wishes for success.

I was 225 when I went to WW last May. I lost 35lbs and stopped going in October. I gained five lbs back and decided to head back to WW (since trying to do it on my own did not work for me. I had to have the motivation of paying someone to weigh me every week). I am in my first week back and go to be weighed tomorrow. WW worked for me and is really a great program. I am now trying to loose the 5 lbs I gained back and an additional 25-30. We bought a house with a swim pool and I need to look better in a suit!

I just joined Weight Watchers (I am on my third week...weigh in is tonight! Wish me luck!)
I am also new to this forum. There are a bunch of super neat people here that make you feel right at home.

I am in week 5 and liking it alot. Homersgarden, This is my 4th time going back:( It is just important that you came back, I too need the weekly weigh in's and being accountable to the group. The plan is so much easier and nicer than the other 3X's I was on it, which makes me hope I can stay on it. I always lose my weight I just gain it back and then some:(

Hi guys! I was considering joining WW online tonight. My concern is how I am assigned daily points. AND if "I" am abl to determine my goal weight and not WW. I think they determine points by what you weigh for your height?

Before I sign in, would anyone know what points they'd assign to me at 5'8" and 154 or 158 pounds? AND - could someone tell me the max lowest point they allot?
