What is wrong w/ people and patient privacy?

I work in a medical/ physical therapy office and I can't figure out what folks don't get about patient privacy and invasion of space (okay, that one I understand - they're just oblivious) when I am trying to schedule?

I am just amazed at how patients will siddle up behind me (in my cubby) and attempt to look at my scheduling/ patient screen for openings when I am scheduling them. And then they act all irritated when I close the screen and ask them to step behind the counter to protect the privacy of patients. I have stuff all over my desk regarding patients (I try to cover it as best I can anyways). I've actually had patients tell me 'That's okay - I don't mind standing here' (meaning crammed up my butt and looking over my shoulder). I have to explain that besides the fact that it's the law, that they are now fully in 'My Space' and so close to me that I'm pressed up against my desk and computer screen. Jeez!

Just ranting.
