Worst customer service experience I've ever had. This company is terrible and I hope they go bankrupt. I told her I would do everything in my power as a consumer make that so by steering others away from their proudly antiquated company. However, I learned from my reseller that Ashland Hardware Systems - https://www.ashlandhardware.com - makes their hardware so I may see what they say, but am expecting more of the same since their website isn't even HTTPS. Good point, rwiegand. But there's nothing wrong with making it very difficult for the casual joyrider burglar. And even the competent ones don't want to make their own lives too difficult. If a house is resistant to getting in, they just as likely will move on to another one that's easier to enter. There are several other things one can do at little cost and effort to make burglars think twice about taking on a home. klem's idea about large shoes is one (though, obviously, if everyone did that it wouldn't be a deterrent). Alarm stickers on doors (for recognized companies), better handlesets and deadbolts, obscuring views to the inside, not leaving "expensive" trash or recycling (like the box for that new HDTV) visible to whoever drives by, ... A competent thief can get into a house very quickly. You just want to do the smart things which will make him/her think twice about getting into your house.

Locking 1 closet is a common practice among people who own vacation rentals, of which I’m one. If you clearly state in the description the number of closets available to the renters, state that one is reserved for owner’s use, and choose one to lock thats not “prime real estate” (like the master closet or the only closet in the bedroom), it’s not a problem. We have a bi-fold (mirrored) hall closet where we keep a few totes with personal items. Nothing valuable, just a few things we want to have easy access to when we use the home ourselves. We also have an identically sized hall closet for renters to use. I think greg_2015 brings up a really good point. A top-mounted childproof lock is an easily installed deterrent, which will keep the honest people honest, as they say. If someone is determined to break into a closet, I guess they will, but I think a simple childproof top-mounted lock will be enough to keep respectful renters out of that particular closet.

elmer, I'm beginnng to think that perhaps our disagreement stems from a misunderstanding of sorts. It seems to me that you perceive people in administration as those who tell others what to do -- that they don't actually do real work themselves. You also said something about "being obvious from the job title." Domain Administrator is not a "job title." It is a security level classification that is designated by Microsoft.
