I guess to be fair, I have to admit that this is my second F&P oven. The first one (an OS301) didn't hold temperature consistently and was replaced under warranty shortly after purchase, which is when I got this 302. I assume the oven was installed correctly, as I believe it was this same service company that did it. The tech tried to call the F&P tech line, but couldn't get through, and so he left without trying much else. I'm assuming that they'll be able to get through and then come fix the oven, but it's all very open ended with this repair company. Keep in mind that I'm in a part of the country where most people have never heard of F&P, so I'm not surprised that service is a bit of a challenge. The F&P lady I talked to at their customer service was very friendly and polite. It's just that her help boiled down to call a tech. I assume that I was told this because solving the problem will require parts (i.e. failed thermal fuse like you said), and there wouldn't be anything for me to do on my own. I'm not ready to write off F&P because of this incident, so I hope you won't either. When it works (which is all the time except for this), it's a great oven. Jeff J

I almost emailed you directly rather than posting, having seen your comments often regarding these machines, but decided to post since I have benefited multiple times from the open info on this website, and might benefit another--though do not wish the maladies I have experienced on anyone else with this dryer! I would definitely like the service manual. I already have the machine "shell" partially removed, snooping around hoping I might see something obvious to account for the marble-rolling sound. I do not know how to get the side and back panels off--the front is pretty obvious--and I don't even know if I will embark on trying to do the replacement, but I may. I looked on the searspartsdirect website and saw the exploded view of the pulley/tensioner ass'y. I am curious how a component like that becomes affected to the point that it noisily begs attention, yet still seems to work acceptably allowing the belt to drive the drum. Without the noise, I would not know anything is defective. If the manual gives some insight into getting the remainder of the walls off, I will probably at least take that portion apart, see if I can find the offending piece, and determine if I think I can do the disassembly and subsequent reassembly myself. If not, I can possibly arrange to have someone with more expertise do the installation, maybe paring a bit of the cost by having everything accessible and the part in hand. Please do allow me access to the manual. That will help me know how to best proceed. Thanks so much!

Trailrunner has it right about cleaning right away. In fact I may have just "Saved" our Elux oven, after the Thanksgiving Turkey "leaked" a bit onto the bottom of the oven. Wife saw it, & said "I gonna run the Self-clean". There was only one lil spot on the bottom of the oven, but if you read Wolf's care manual for the cobalt oven, You will see that's a "No NO" to just run the self clean for such deposits. I told her I would clean it for her, she said "No Biggie" and She did it herself,--that saved a lotta electricity and "Fate tempting" Anyway without "Further Ado" here is the wolf info, You should probably get that info for your oven manufacturer's cleaning recommendations, sooooo U will have to decide how or whether to use this info on your particular oven! As this will make my post pretty long, I will add more later in another post. "Wolf Info" "Oven Interior (Blue) Before utilizing the self-clean feature, use a razor blade to gently lift baked on foods from oven cavity and window. For stubborn stains,spray with a mild abrasive cleaner or spray degreaser and scrub with a no-scratch Scotch-Brite� pad (pink or blue). If stain persists, use Easy-Off� Fume Free Oven Cleaner or a S.O.S.� Steel Wool Soap Pad. The S.O.S.� pad should be used lightly at first and with more force if the stain remains. Wash the entire oven cavity with soap and water to remove all cleaning chemicals before entering self clean mode. If the residue is not cleaned from the cavity, etching of the porcelain may occur. Once self clean cycle is complete, allow the oven to cool completely and wipe out ash with a damp cloth. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not allow food with a high sugar or acid content (i.e. milk, tomatoes, fruit juices) to remain on any porcelain enamel surface. Failure to remove these foods may cause a permanent dull spot. IMPORTANT NOTE: Never wipe a warm or hot porcelain surface with a damp cloth or sponge as this may cause chipping or crazing (hairline cracks)." Gary

@Whitney Marlow - I understand your concern. Yale appliance has a blog you might find helpful. They sell AND service and have information you might find useful. I remember reading and watching about the new Thermador - if I recall correctly they stated that they updated the exterior but made little to no changes to the actual oven. Thermador is owned by Bosch. Bosch double ovens do NOT have knob controls. Monogram has good reviews, but Haier has now taken over. I am trying to support products made in the USA, not China. My experience with F & P is limited. It's not a brand that gets a lot of press where I live. I see mostly Wolf, Thermador and Blue Star around me.
