You Can't Be Serious!

In another wild rice thread someone else had posted, I mentioned that possibly fresh peanuts could be very compatible in taste with wild rice. Of course, I wasn't sure because I was out of wild rice.

Guess what? Imagine my happiness, in today's mail there was a package of wild rice waiting for me! Thank you Teresa, You Can't Be Serious! That's beyond generous!

So I made wild rice with peanuts and mushrooms. I think you all will enjoy the combination, if you can get hold of fresh peanuts and real wild rice. The subtle taste of the peanuts serves as a perfect backdrop for the wonderful earthy flavor of the wild rice. They are made for each other.

Soup was asparagus portabella soup.

The main dish was sous vide cooked chuck steak. Cooked at 139.5 degrees F for 24 hours.

Let me put it this way, if you had a slice of that steak, you would likely exclaim, " You Can't Be Serious! No way! Get out! This is not chuck steak!" Juicy, tender and flavorful. Nice way to turn $1.99 a lb subprimal chuck steak into a great meal.

Have you had chuck steak edge-to-edge medium rare, and not stewed?

Again, thank you Teresa, You have given me the chance to try out an idea.

A Sacred gift for a heavenly dinner.
