How to make fish not taste like fish
Comments (36)" Love those tiny little crunchy fishies, dipped in cocktail sauce and eaten bones, tail and all. " Me too, Annie! ! ! ! And I had some this year for the first time in ages! It's not anything that is known in these parts, But a large store about 50 miles from here had some. I bought about 5 lbs, and really "pigged out" (for lack of a better term) that night. I have the rest in meal sized packages in the freezer. I use them as a 'reward' for myself when I accomplish something I've been dreading doing! "I don't get it. Fish is fish. I WANT it to taste like fish. I don't want it to taste like beef, chicken, or anything else. " I agree with that 100%, too. I like to 'eat healthy', and I try to most of the time. But I am not willing to torture myself with food I don't like. If I were intent on giving up red meats, I would try to find something that I enjoyed To replace it with. As many have mentioned above, There are a number of very mild tasting fish. Preparing/serving them with a highly seasoned sauce might do the job for you. Good luck in your quest. Comments (2)We've had blackened salmon a few times using this recipe and love it. I think it would also work for your tuna. We cook it on our outdoor grill so as not to smoke up the house. Hope this helps. Blackened Salmon 2 tablespoons ground paprika 1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon onion powder 2 teaspoons salt 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme 1/4 teaspoon dried basil 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano 4 salmon fillets, skin and bones removed 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted DIRECTIONS In a small bowl, mix paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, salt, white pepper, black pepper, thyme, basil and oregano. Brush salmon fillets on both sides with 1/4 cup butter, and sprinkle evenly with the cayenne pepper mixture. Drizzle one side of each fillet with 1/2 remaining butter. In a large, heavy skillet over high heat, cook salmon, butter side down, until blackened, 2 to 5 minutes. Turn fillets, drizzle with remaining butter, and continue cooking until blackened and fish is easily flaked with a fork....See MoreWhat do you use for non-stick frying pans?
Comments (47)We also got Emeril cookware for the induction top. I really like it...it has drain holes in the lids and the lids are clear so you can see how something is simmering or boiling without removing the lid. They are also reasonably quiet...some pots can be noisy on induction. Of course the best for induction is cast iron...either plain or enameled. Just make sure there aren't any burrs on the bottom of the pans or they may scratch the cooktop....See MoreWhat is something that you have repurposed for another use
Comments (37)OH yeah I can't throw those coffee "cans" away! I use them for my Borax and Washing Soda and for sidewalk salt in the winter and I also have one for use as a bird seed scoop. I then use a milk gallon jug with the bottom cut out as a funnel to put the feed into the little hole on top. I alway keep smaller pickle jars to put big jars of half used up pickles in to so it doesn't take up so much room in my NOT SO ROOMY fridge! UGH! OH and speaking of pickles, when I buy some that aren't that great tasting, I will slice them into chunks and pour some hamburger dill juice on them(wait a few days before eating), it turns even the nastiest pickle into something yummy!:) Unloved shampoo or body wash can be used to clean your tub with, just put it on a scrubbie sponge and clean. IMHO it cleans the tub as well as anything else and it's safe! I also reuse unwanted body wash to fill those foaming soap dispensers, just use half water and half soap...works great! I can't part with my jugs of shampoo and conditioner with the squirt top..I just put whatever shampoo and conditioner I'm using into them. So who knows my Paul Mitchell bottle is really just 79cent VO5! HAHAHA! I really just use them for convenience sake...no one ever comes over to see my tub anyway...HA! Small box bottoms make great drawer organizers for small stuff. OH I always use those bottles that stuff like seltzer water come in for the bar for putting water in for our daily walk. They are the perfect size to fit into my Coleman insulated holder that I bought at Walmart but HATED the bottle that comes with them(it leaked like crazy!). I use them a while until I buy a new bottle of seltzer water then I throw it away and use my new one....See Moremagothyrivergirl
