Stay away from Kitchen Aid!! Our KA dual fuel 30" range oven caught fire tonight, AGAIN. It's been repaired so many times KA and the warranty people could have bought us several new appliances. Since it's now out of warranty we're finally ready to dump it, and are considering doing so in front of the Kitchen Aid corporate offices. There's a thread regarding KA wall ovens and the clean cycle, we used it once and after a repair were advised to never use it again.

Meile is always the first recommendation I see here, and also in most appliance shops.

I decided to get an Electrolux Icon because it's so much cheaper. I'll let you know in early 2010 how it works ;)

Owned a KA double wall oven for 13 years, no issues. Doing remodel and just replaced it with another KA, this one is stainless, convection upper, thermal lower. It is installed and it is far upgraded from the 13 year-old one it replaced even thought it is the same model number. The convection is the reverse flow "European" design, it has a beautiful blue interior with side halogen lights and ball bearing roller rack with concealed lower elements. Glass touch panel for the controls is fantastic and the information in the display is great. We really liked the design of the doors, three panes of glass thick and they are full glass on the inside which makes cleaning really easy. At 400 degrees the outside of the door is cool to the touch. The actual cooking is great, temperature is really accurate. We looked at every double wall oven out there and for our money nothing else came close. We were not willing to pay twice as much for a nameplate. No regrets, it is beautiful to look at and even better in use.

Like 'boxerhead' our Kitchenaid oven is really great. Its my 2nd Kitchenaid oven as I had another in a previous home. That older model worked well too. No problems.

My new wall oven has the cobalt blue interior and like the story above, we really enjoy it. I've self-cleaned several times without problems. Actually, all my Kitchenaid stuff has been pretty much trouble free, excepting a few install adjustments.

Thanks all for your postings! I also had been considering the KA electric convection with blue interior, handy slide out tray, and had just about decided to go with it but then I started to see a lot of negative postings about KA ovens. Disappointing as it APPEARS to be a great oven for a great price but don't know if we're willing to take that risk.

There must be some reasonably priced wall oven that does a good job and does not catch fire!

Ikea has some starting at $649, made by Whirlpool. That's what my second oven will be, and given that I don't want to fire up a 36" gas oven every day and that the Ikea one will be at a better height and not by the floor, it may actually well become my first.
