Thanks for the help. Since the NKBA says 15" at the side of the oven is enough I am planning on a 30" wall oven. Many more options in 30" ovens. I do have more room for larger but lighter items across the aisle. I am seriously looking at the GE Profile single-double oven.

My last home had a fantasticly massive 1950s-vintage 48" stove, with a unheated compartment off to the left of what must have been about a 33"w main oven compartment. This dominated the tiny kitchen it was in. From there I moved to another small apartment, this one with a cheapo 20" range, which makes me long for the 24" wall oven I had 3 apartments ago. I find 27" plenty wide for everything; I'd consider 30" more for the extra options available only in that size (i.e. Electrolux Icon single or double, and GE Advantium 240 wall ovens) that don't have a 27" equivalent. OTOH, some ovens, like the Gaggenau side-hinged ovens are available in 70cm (just over 27"w) but not 30".

We have Thermador 27" double convection ovens. I would have preferred 30" ovens, but we didn't have enough room. I love the ovens. The controls are easy to understand and use, it bakes well, and I like the glide-out rack. Thermador posted the wrong specs on their web site, so we had a little installation issue. That was fixed by the installer.

I need a new oven and our existing space accommodates a 27 inch oven. It is a Dacor. We seem to be limited in our choices as most ovens are now 30 inches. Thermador has been the most highly recommended by the appliance stores I have been to but people here seem less pleased with it. Priorities for me are quietness and ease of cooking. I am feeling overwhelmed and would welcome any input about 27-inch oven brands purchased in the last few years that you have liked.
