I'm just being permitted to 'grab it' -- I can start viewing any part I want of what I've ordered. This isn't like waiting for an AdobePub book to be available from my library, where the library has X numbers of the product to lend. Um...so what if every person in the USA asked to view "The Grapes of Wrath" right now? Could everyone get it immediately -- no limit to how many people access the same thing? Both the TV salesperson at Sears and the Blu-Ray salesperson at Costco told us the cable here (Oceanic on Maui) provides only 720 at best. We currently have a Digital cable box; it's a substiture for the HD cable box we ordered in January. The HD box was 'out of stock' -- as we learned only when the installer showed up. The HD is to be installed Monday afternoon. I hope I see a lot more difference with the HD; I saw very little improvement with the Digital over plain cable. (Diital and HD is the same price: $7/month. Makes me wonder.) Oceanic offers a landline/broadband bundle I could use if I bought my own router. However, my dealings with Oceanic over this box have not been positive. (Hours on hold. Mixed up orders. Installer shows up with wrong box. HD boxes 'out of stock' for a MONTH just between Oahu and Maui?) We have no choice of cable provider in this condo; it's Oceanic. So, I need to ask Hawiian Tel for 1.5 - 3.0 mpbs broadband? Will every router push that? I was unable to register the Blu-Ray w/Sony/Netflix, but that may be because our leased router is failing -- or we have insufficient bandwidth from Hawaiian Tel? I'm probably ahead to continue leasing (a replacement router) so that Hawaiian Tel will be responsible for maintaining the router/service for guests.

Some causes (in order of likelihood) are inadequate internet bandwidth (external), PC under-spec'd, inadequate bandwidth (internal). Let's try the first - run this speed test and report back your finding. Try it separately with each PC. If you're getting less than 3 Mbps with each PC, that's a problem. Speed Test site Next - PCs. Now, years later, they're really limited if you haven't upgraded any of the internal hardware. Limited is polite, like maybe only 256 or 512 Mb of RAM? That's also a problem. As for internal bandwidth (your router and any interference), I'd just reboot it and leave it alone until you address the first two issues. If the Whisperflo will create too much flow for the waterfall, and if it's not practical to plumb the Intelliflo with a valves so that it can do both tasks? I'd recommend you get a second Intelliflo. Yes it's expensive. But with the pumps pretty much being interchangeable plumbing-wise, you can easily do the swap out yourself. When I replaced my Whisperflo with an Intelliflo, I was shocked by the reduction in energy used. My Intelliflo schedule is for it to run at a low RPM for most of its ON-cycle and then at a higher rpm for a 90-minute cleaning cycle. I went from over 30kWh/day to less than 5kWh/day with no loss of water quality. With my electric rates and an April-to-November season, my pump paid for itself in the first year.

Last year the then-Oceanic/Time/Warner cable box could be controlled for volume by its remote. Before we arrived this month, new owner Spectrum (Charter) rewired with "digital" cable. They provided a new box and matching remote for the BR box, but left the old box and its remote in the LR. When we couldn't get that remote to control for volume, Spectrum provided a new remote, but not a new cable box. Nope. Still couldn't change volume. Today we will unhook the LR HD-DVR cable box and take it and the new-style remote into the Spectrum office. We are dropping the DVR service. We will get a non-DVR cable box -- and, I hope, a remote that will control volume. (Yeah, sure.) I foresee that we will have to re-do ALL of this if/when we replace the current TV.
