firefox 3

When I install Firefox 3, does Firefox 2 uninstall, or do I do it ? Also, I'm having that same problem with the drop down browser history showing bookmarks, not history. Is there a way to stop this ( in simple language, please) ?

you just hit the update button in firefox 2 and it will automatically update you to FF3 no need to uninstall anything, just say yes to the FF 3 download prompts.

there is a way to make the drop down the same as it was on ff2 if that is what you mean.

Yes , I'd like to make the drop down or history the same as it was on ff2. Can you please explain how ?
I installed ff3 by clicking on my tools menu and choosing "update", but I did have to go through the install process.

If you look at Firefox Add-ons under Tools, it indicates that particular plug-in is not compatible with Firefox 3.5.2.

you will have to do that anyway because they are not supporting version 2. So might as well go ahead and do it. It should be a smooth transition, there are several threads here that I have posted links to some tips and tricks for firefox 3 where you can make it more like version 2 etc so just search for those. some of your add ons or themes may not yet be functional with version 3 is maybe something you may run into.

Thanks, I'm not familiar with "easylist" or the "Stop Sign". I recall in the past being offered a chance to select action beyond Allow, which causes the page to reset/transmit. In the subject case that means I have to login/password again. In the past I recall being given the choice of "allow once" "allow always", "block" that's what I recall in any case. These choices didn't come up, just an allow or ignore. Ignoring works as long as I don't need any interactions, such as using an EFT and looking for a confirmation. This site used to work so I assume the difference is something in a recent issue of Firefox. I typically do not install "add ons", that may be related.

When I have uninstalled firefox before installing a newer version the bookmarks, history, etc. have stayed in the Mozilla folder. To be double safe you can export your bookmarks (bookmarks > organize bookmarks > import and backup) to a file in your My Documents folder before uninstalling. That way you can delete the folder after uninstalling if you need to do so to install an older version.

Like salbwil, I downloaded FF3 and my address bar shows my bookmarks instead of my recent history. I want the history to show when I click on space at the end of the address. I don't need my favourites to show up.

you can do google searches for "make firefox 3 like firefox 2" or similar searches and find a lot of good tips and tricks but for the address bar this link should help you.
