FireFox 3 Version question

Hi,

My DH hit update now by mistake for the Mozilla FireFox Ver. 3, I had put off getting this as I wasn't sure if it had problems or not. It will automatically install when the computer is restarted. Is it problem free now? I am using MS XP and IE 7 and have now Mozilla FireFox 2.0.0.20 Thank you.

I have been using FF 3.0.5 for a long while now with no ill effects that I am aware of.

you will have to do that anyway because they are not supporting version 2. So might as well go ahead and do it.
It should be a smooth transition, there are several threads here that I have posted links to some tips and tricks for firefox 3 where you can make it more like version 2 etc so just search for those.

some of your add ons or themes may not yet be functional with version 3 is maybe something you may run into.

I recently updated to FF 3.6.18 from 3.6.17 on June 21st and no issues and I'm staying there for now. I just came across the article below that stated Mozilla expects Firefox to hit version 7 by the end of the year. Version 3.6.18 is definitely a keeper for me. mago this is what it says about dom inspector on the firefox site: DOM Inspector is a tool that can be used to inspect and edit the live DOM of any web document or XUL application. The DOM hierarchy can be navigated using a two-paned window that allows for a variety of different views on the document and all nodes within. Note: This add-on depends on binary changes to Firefox, and will not work with Firefox 2. I do not have it, never used it, so can not comment on it, if you do not use it then you can easily remove it. In fact I see you have ff 2 and it says that dom inspector does not work with ff 2??? There is a post some pages back that I had started called tips and tricks that thread has a lot of good info on ff ad ons and other useful stuff.

When I have uninstalled firefox before installing a newer version the bookmarks, history, etc. have stayed in the Mozilla folder. To be double safe you can export your bookmarks (bookmarks > organize bookmarks > import and backup) to a file in your My Documents folder before uninstalling. That way you can delete the folder after uninstalling if you need to do so to install an older version.

think I'd start with a ccleaner and check mark compact data base.... then by lookin at extensions/plugins/themes, start disabling/re-enabling something all three have in common. probably lots of same slow page loads.... I am one of those careful people who don't like to update to new versions of things unless most, if no all, the bugs have been worked out. I finally updated to version 3, and have had no problems.
