Show that software who's boss! Say, do you back up your computer? You should, weekly. There is software that does this, using an external hard drive. Some merely back up the data, others clone the entire hard drive. With the latter sort of backup, you can recover in case fiddling with the registry blows up your computer. Just return to the state it was in before. Of course, the most important use is to protect your data. Photos, for example. Hard drives seem to fail more often now than they used to. Once a hard drive fails, everything on it is unrecoverable absent spending four figures for a specialized service.

I've never lost any bookmarks with Firefox but if I did there's always one backup in the profile folder and 5 backups in the bookmarkbackup folder. And if you want to keep more backups all you have to do is tweak the about:config to increase the number of backups. Seamonkey doesn't keep bookmark backups. Okay.....I did both updates, and then I ran JavaRa and removed all old versions. But then I went to the Mozilla Plugin Check Page, and saw that it still listed my Java as old and outdated. So I said okay, and I clicked Update--whereupon we went through the installation process again. However, the previous time I selected the 64-bit version because that's what my computer is, and this time I chose the 32-bit version. Now Mozilla says all my plug-ins are current and secure. Of course, I still can't load MSNBC and assorted other sites with Firefox. :-/ Since we've made all these changes, do you think it would help if I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox?

I will second Elmer's comments in regard to uninstalling IE...DON'T. In fact, I will take it a step further...don't uninstall or try to delete ANYTHING that came with Windows or was put there by an update of Windows. If you do you are not just asking for trouble...you are begging for it. If there is something you don't like about the OS, you are free to ignore it and not use it. It won't do any harm to you except take up a little space on your hard drive. OTOH, if you are running out of hard drive space because you have too much crud on the disc then feel free to disregard this post. You have chosen your own fate and you deserve it.
