Beach pics from this summer.

My sister, Dawn, and her kids came for a short visit this summer. We met at Asilomar beach. Daniel and the oldest cousin, Andrew, didn't make it to the beach this morning so they aren't in the pics. Those layabout boys slept in.

Claire (aka Kiki) and Ethan (aka Ee-ee) are twins. Sis is my junior by 13 years but acts like the eldest sibling. I don't mind, it takes the pressure off of me. ;)

Cute is not even the right word for those kids. Somebody better have a shotgun handy in a few years, the boys and girls will be calling.

Eileen I had to come out of my lazy holiday lurking to say what lovely children in your photos! And Alice is still getting more beautiful every day....if that's possible.

The beach also looks like a lovely place to be, and how nice that you could share it with a visit from your sister!
I've just been seeing my sister as well after being a year away from my family.

I hope we get more activity over here on the gallery and you have many more responses to your great photos!

The very first plants in this area after soil amendment, all immature and not even really established...I'll post a comparison pic in a month or two, see where we've come since last summer....This was the longest winter EVER for me, and it's all because of discovering Hosta...I suppose this coming winter, and all winters for the rest of my life will be like this now......I'm going to start growing Hosta seed: houseplants are cool, but they don't really "do it" for me...I'd prefer raising plants in winter for the anticipation of planting them in the soil when spring rolls around. Laura, thanks, my camera is actually an older model Sony-for-Doofuses, auto-everything: DSC T700. I just keep half-pressing the shutter until it auto-focuses on exactly what I want to capture. I got it to replace a big bulky Sony when my baby came along and I needed a small one I could slip into a pocket and chase him around with. Still no word on the PSA site about the sale. Last year's was on July 31st in Merrill Center at Katy, Texas. Will let you know as soon as I see any more info. Bill, what is that last hibiscus, the gold and orange? It is SPECTACULAR! Sunseeker, those gorgeous hibiscus I have are in 3-gallon pots on my deck. I found them, two to a pot, at Lowe's for $7! If I overwinter them in the garage I'll easily get several years enjoyment from them, so I think they're great value and a lot of color in a small space. If you put them in the ground where the temps don't go below 30 they should come back year after year, but they'll also get pretty big. Keep them in a container and pruned and they'll be nice and compact and still bloom prolifically if you feed them frequently. They also only need part sun in most of the southern half of the country.

Hello Everyone, Greg, Those are gorgeous blooms!! I too like the Juicy Fruit and love all of the other beautiful vibrant colors of ALL of the blooms!! I hear you about having a tough summer... i think everyone has had a time this year... but to look back, this has been one year that has been the best for me by far.... Eileen, Oh yeah...they're definitely twins! LOL What a couple of sweet kids! Nice looking family, and Alice gets prettier every photo, I swear!

Wow! Your family has very good genes. Those kids are just beautiful. Claire & Alice could easily pass for sisters. I can see the family resemblance in Ethan also.

Gosh, Eileen, Alice is just sooo pretty. It's more than just another nice-looking young lady. She's breathtaking.

My 5-year old grandson, another Ethan, was peeking over my shoulder last night when I first saw these pixs & he pointed his finger at the screen & said, "Look Grammy...it's Cinderella!! :)

Looks like a very fun day at the beach. I hope you had a chance to have a nice visit with your sister.

Eileen, you are right, Claire could be a mermaid. What a doll. The children in your family are all beautiful. And so photogenic.

I know, I'm shameless! I think my sister's kids are really cute.

Why am I not in the photos? it should be obvious, I'm not cute! And I was the one with the camera. My sister is a portrait photographer but didn't haul her equipment out to the beach with us. Her camera is pretty serious. Here is a link to her site in case you might want to look. She is in Phoenix and shoots on location or in her studio in her home in Central Phoenix.

Adorable, every one. Alice is looking more grown up and still quite the beauty. The twins are very good looking. I agree with your mermaid comment.

Did you stay at Asilomar? I stayed there once. What a nifty place.

What cute little blonde children. Well, except Alice, she's a stunningly beautiful blonde "not quite child".

You sister does some lovely work, I like the black and white pictures.

Tricia, I'll have to pass along the Cinderella compliment! So cute!

Annie, that little pool was teeming with hermit crabs and other life, I'm sure he caught something!

We didn't stay at Asilomar we stayed nearby. I have stayed at Asilomar many years ago. Lovely place. The beach is gorgeous. The older kids and I rode bikes from this beach around to Monterey and up past the fisherman's wharf. The bikes were awful loaners with no gears but the ride was fun.
