OK, so I finally got around to it, LOL.

I spent a couple of days before just cooking. Everything in my kitchen was running, including the bread machine, the mixer and the food processor!

I worked and worked on the fondant, with help from Sol, thank goodness.

So we had lots of cake. My "wedding" cake was Pixiestix' Hot Milk Cake, one of my favorites. The sheet cake with blue frosting was Sherry's carrot cake and the chocolate sheet cake was Colleen's recipe:

Some, like my sisters' boys, were better at drinking:

Some had so darned much fun they just fell asleep, like my great niece Cadaence and my cousin's daughter, Madelyn:

We had surprise visitors too. Elery's son Chris came, with his wife Sorah and their kids, Jamieson and Jackson:

Oh, you want to see those OTHER surprise guests, LOL. OK, Nancy and Kim came, I was so happy to see them both:

Sherry and Roger came too, and so I was doubly happy:

We danced, lots, first Elery and I:

Pretty much everyone danced "the Locomotion", LOL, except me, I was taking pictures!

Ashley taught some of the kids to dance "low, low, low", whatever that song is:

Then she decided to sing, with help from my great-nephew, Xander:

Then she danced with Elery, until she was so tired she didn't have enough energy left to help wash dishes at the end of the party. Uh huh.....

In spite of explicit instructions, SOME PEOPLE brought presents. Yeah, that's a box from Penzey's, from Sherry and Roger:

Inside was my favorite four peppercorn blend and that wonderful Penzey's cinnamon. I was out of cinnamon too, Sherry must be psycho....um....er.....psychic. Anyway, I made cinnamon bread tonight with some of that cinnamon.

then a beautifully wrapped silver box, it didn't weigh very much. Inside, though, a treasure:

Nancy said she used hers a lot for tomatoes, so Elery gave it a test run, he LOVES it.

He says he'll leave it with me, though, and use it when he's here. What a good man and what a nice gift.

There weren't as many people as I expected, the guys mostly were "getting ready" to go bear hunting, which means they went north to the cabin and drank....um....I mean cleaned up. Yeah, that's it. Their wives all came and had a great time, though. (grin)

So, we're safely married, happily partied and now I'm waiting for married life to get boring. We'll see.

Thanks Sherry, Roger, Nancy and Kim, the gifts were lovely but just having you there with us was the best gift of all.

Annie, I always enjoy your accounts of the big doings in your world. The party looks wonderful. I hope your new married life gets "boring" really soon.

I guess I wasn't really explicit, the knife came from Nancy and Kim, in case that wasn't clear. It's a wonderful gift, I love it.

Eileen, I'm hoping really hard for some boredom and pretty darned soon. As you can see from my 2:30 a.m. posting, I'm having some trouble sleeping.

While dryers and ranges have typically been 120/240 V loads there is a long standing exception allowing the use of 3-wire circuits. The exception still allows the use of the older 3-wire circuits and almost all ranges and dryers come with instructions for either installation. The change to the exception is that it is now strictly a 'grandfather' exception. All new circuits must be 4-wire, and if any changes are made to a 3-wire circuit it must be changed to 4-wire. Many ranges and dryers do not even come with a cord attached, but one is purchased to match the circuit in the house the unit will be installed in. The difference in the equipment is usually the removal of a bonding screw between the neutral terminal and the chassis. A 3-wire installation bonds the neutral to the chassis for safety, while a 4-wire uses the ground in the circuit to ground the chassis. The wire resistance is low enough that having a neutral grounded chassis for the small 120 V loads (motor and timer typically) does not produce enough voltage drop in the wiring to be detected by people (the chassis has a voltage equal to the voltage drop in the neutral leg present).

Hello, I can understand your ordeal. Decorating can be hard. When it comes to decorating, the room itself speaks to you how to decorate it because of the elements it provides. That helps, makes bringing things together easier. I am going with the idea of keeping the room lighter and brighter. Lets start with the wood elements. They are three different shades, the Mantel, the floor and the window frame. The mantel is the darkest shade which makes the room look little dark. The floor and the window frame shade of color is almost close. 1. So the first thing to do and this option will be cheaper than flooring, change the mantel color, Either get it stained light to match the flooring color or paint it white so that it blends with the built-in. 2. Place a light sofa, mid- century modern kind, in front of the Fireplace. Matching loveseat will go by the wall, next to the built-in on the left by the radiator I‘m presuming, cant see in the picture very well. 3. Leave the window free. All the brightness and airiness is coming from the window, don‘t cover it with a huge chunk of furniture just maybe a mid- century modern small single seater. The love seat and the chair should be tilted to bring them together to sofa. 4. The coffee table, a rectangle one will do because of the room disposition, glass or acrylic, they dont show and visually dont take much space, makes the room look light. Other add-on furniture will be couple of light end tables with routine decor. 5. On top of mantle, if you want to decorate put a vertical, not horizontal, picture, painting or mirror, whatever looking-at makes you feel happy. One tall plant, a fig tree, rubber plant on the left corner by the window. 6. If you want to use a rug, dont choose a solid color rug, makes the room look boring, Choose a bold patterned rug. They have a lot red and blue with geometrc patterns or artwork patterns red white and black. Stay away from brown and the beiges. Make it bold and the furniture that goes with it will be lighter shade white, off- white, cream, not beige. Its of course my personal opinion, dont like beige. You are decorating the room choose whatever makes you feel happy.. 7. in the end, I would suggest, dont choose to put a lot of furniture, unnecessarily takes up lot of space. More free space in the room makes it feel more welcoming. 8. ENJOY DECRATING.. In the end when all of this will come together it will make you feel ver happy. The experience will be very rewarding. Thats the beauty of decorating. It makes you feel good at the end of the game.

If money is no object....then money is no object. (Yeah, I know, I'm brilliant. Ha.) If someone has the cash to spend, I hold zero opinions how they should spend it. That's the beauty of America. :) How someone chooses to spend discretionary income is up to you. My concern is that there seems to be huge pressure to make the wedding An Event to Remember anymore. Too many people are focused on planning a party, and not thinking about the fact that means you're (allegedly) going to be spending the rest of your life with this person. As I said, I know people who took out loans to provide An Event to Remember for their daughters' wedding/s. Half of those weddings are already over. I'm not sure I see the value in spending multiples of tens of thousands of dollars that they had to borrow, particularly on something that is a transitory state for about half the people who enter into a marriage anymore. I'd like to see more people focus on the actual marriage itself, rather than the party which precedes it. :-/

That's around a 60x100' tent. How many guests? Are you planning on tables and seating for dining, or no? You said banquette seating, so I would guesss yes and you are planning on rectangular or square tables instead of round ones. How many seats per table are you planning? Having a dance floor/DJ? Is the cake table there, and/or dessert or coffee service stations? The bar? Present table? Since you say it's black tie, that means the entire tent should be floor tiled. But with the whole tent solid surface, that can allow you a bit more freedom than if you had a partial grass and partial floor under the tent. Are your renting the furniture? Often rental services have linens in a lot of colors, and you can ask for chair covers in pink for your dining chairs. You could also choose pink table linens and table decor. I kind of doubt you will find pink couches or other loungers for rent. So if you want those in pink, be prepared to buy it. Are you planning on using the fuchsias in the floral arrangements on the tables? The red and purple ones are most common, and the red and white ones are pretty common too. Be aware that they have a short life as a cut flower, only a couple days.

I really had hopes to be there, too. Even discussed riding up with Peppi, but that nasty old "unemployment" thing got in my way!

But now I am employed again, so I should be able to make it to any future CF weddings! LOL

Hey -- you're not supposed to give knives as gifts, so send a penny to Nancy and Kim so you've bought it.

Looks like a good time was had by all and I wish I has some of that cake.

Knives, scissors and all other types of utensils that are used for cutting things are not traditionally considered a good gift idea. Basically the idea of cutting or slicing things is does not promote good luck, or good karma. In fact, to the Chinese or in Latin America the gift of a knife as a gift would be interpreted as "cutting off a friendship (or relationship)." An extension to this idea is the use of cutting tools when opening gifts. So take care not to tie or wrap the gifts in such a way that cutting tools will be required.

What to do if you get a knife as a gift
The tables are turned. Its your wedding. Youre opening your gifts and you notice that someone has given you a set of knives.

Lets assume that you're positive the gift-giver didn't mean anything negative by giving you the knife as a gift, but youre still feeling uneasy about the whole deal. On one hand, you may need a great knife set, but on the other hand who wants bad luck from their wedding day? Legend has it that you can help reverse any bad luck from receiving this gift by giving the gift giver a penny (at least) for the knife. This, in effect, makes the gift a purchase!

However, anyone who wants to give me a Henckels or Wusthof knife should feel free to do so!

Dedtired, we've had this discussion before on the forum, someone sent someone a penny, LOL.

Yeah, yeah. I'm not at ALL superstitious, and all the bad things lately happened to me before I got that knife. (grin) Still, next time I visit Nancy and Kim, I'll try to remember to give them a penny, just for you!

omg, I didn't know that about knives! heck my mom gave me an entire set for my shower gift!

Believe me, I know about the superstition about giving someone a knife! I'll collect that penny from Annie and Elery, one of these days. When Kim and I discussed what would be a good present, we thought about a knife and nothing else seemed better. They both like to cook, Annie is a CF friend and when I was looking the knives over and realized that that knife is called a salami knife, I had to get it. I remembered how they were getting into making sausages and I also thought about how I like it for slicing tomatoes. Annie always has lots of tomatoes. A true tomato knife has two sharp points on the end which I really don't like....dangerous! After checking out other things at the only kitchen store in my vicinity, the salami knife won.

Annie, being able to come to the party was special. You and Elery make such a great couple!! See you soon!

My grandmother, who didn't have an apparent superstitious bone in her body, was very strict about paying that penny for a knife gift.

DD put that song on my IPod, "shortie got low, low, low, low, low", I must admit it's quite catchy although I had no clue there was a dance that went with it..... bend knees, extend arms, I'll try it later, lol......

Annie, all of the smiles tells me it was a fun reception & the cake is beautiful.

You've had some life changing events recently. I add my wishes to the rest that life settles down & gets back to a boring routine soon.

Mitch, I'd like to see that. (grin) Ashley tells me that everytime the song says "low", you have to go down lower, until you are down as low as you can without falling over. It's pretty fun to watch and see who can get lowest, sort of like limbo without the stick. LOLOL

Michael, I'm sorry you missed the party, we actually had beer left over. That was your portion that didn't get drunk...

Nancy, remind me about that penny when Elery and I come to visit you. One of your meals is well worth the drive!

I wish EVERYONE could have been there. It was very low key, lots of fun, lots of food and music. The DJ, who is a friend I've known for years, called it the "anti-reception". (snicker) When I called and said "you'll never believe this, but I got married again", her response was "OMG, you're sh*tting me!!" Ahem.

What a sweet couple you two made, particularly once the sugar dust settled.

You know, I'd never heard of a knife gift bringing bad luck. And being from Cuba --where we like our knives ;-Þ-- you'd think I would've known about it.

You and Elery both looked so happy, the guests looked happy, the cake was just beautiful, and the babies slept through the whole thing.
All in all, a perfect wedding reception for two, very deserving people. And AB, I sincerely wish for your married life to remain as sweet as ours has been.
May it never get boring for either of you!

Annie, I wish I could have been there. I think I would get along great with you and Ellery. The only thing that concerns me is that you didn't have any Ramones records at your reception. I think Blitzkieg Bop and a little hey hey lets go would have been appropriate. Best wishes.

James, no Ramones at the reception but I still own a nice sunburst Mosrite guitar. Yup, the one made famous by Johnny Ramone, LOL, and I can't even play a guitar!

See, we would get along just fine, come on up, The salmon are just starting to run, and the big 4 year olds are just now hitting the rivers. Only 10 miles from my house, too, and local guides are just starting to catch a few coho and some of those big chrome steelheads....
