I"ve never been overly impressed with the free version of AA. My experiemces and from my readings I found it always to be "lite" and transparant. I used it in the old days along with S&D as there was nothing else to replace it. Now that there are other more viable options I wonder if AA's time has past. When using AA I have never found anything other than cookies and insignificant data miners. I know of no one else who has ever detected anything significant with it, and delving into my memmory I do not recall anyone here reporting a horrific discovery. The same can be said for the other forums I participate in. I ask, Has anyone ever detected a viable threat on their system using AA? DA

Hi ravencajun, When the old AdAware went down I had no idea where to go, it all was so confusing to me, so I decided to put the new AdAware in to see how it would do. It has done well up until now and this is the first time that I have had compatiblity Issues with Spybot Search And Destroy. I have had AdAware several months now. This is really odd, cause I would have thought there would have been problems before now. Do I just take AdAware out using Add/Remove Programs? Will that get it all out? How is the install for superantispyware, is it hard to download or is it a simple install? What is your personal opinion of superantispyware? Pros & Cons. If you don't mind doing that for me? I just installed Spybot with the download file spybotsd160.exe. When Spybot loads, I see the following: -- Slugmeter labeled "Loading Spybot" -- "Legal stuff" message box: "If you remove advertisement robots with this program, you may not be allowed..." -- "Confirm" message box: "Spybot - Search & Destroy has detected that you have the following products installed: Lavasoft AdAware. This may cause incompatibilites; for more information, click Yes to visit our website, Ignore to no longer show this warning, or just Cancel." Here's the text from the website: "Compatibility: If you have the AdAware option to scan inside archives enabled, AdAware may find files in the Spybot-S&D folder. Spybot-S&D does not contain any spyware, but it creates backups of everything you fix (until you remove those backups from the Recovery list), and AdAware complains about these backups. I just went in and looked again under the immunize section and now I know which ones are unprotected. One is Firefox: 6, 998,998,998= 3000 then there is Mozilla: 6, 998,998,998=3000 a total of 6000 unprotected items. I do not have Firefox installed nor do I have Mozilla installed on this computer. That is strange that they are even counting those since they are not installed. I guess they would be unprotected. "LOL" Under the Firefox browser and the Mozilla browser it is showing my old email address not my current one. Don't know why that is either. Is it ok to leave it with the old address since I am not using those browsers? I did not install Spybot the guys who built this computer did. I have always been somewhat confused with Spybot. I did download the new SuperAntiSpyware and have been using it along with my other Spyware removal programs. thirdfrt!!!
