My sweetie pie's first birthday

Here are pictures from Ari's birthday party last Saturday. Her birthday is actually July 28, but this was the only time we could all get together. It's hard to believe that my very last grandchild is almost a year old now. It goes too fast.

Please remember that I am not a photographer, and don't know how to make those little pictures that you click on to enlarge. Maybe I can have Jessy teach me that at Canny Camp.

Ari loved the frosting on her cake.

She actually was a little upset after pawing through the cake and getting her fingers dirty...until she licked them!

Looks like it is time for a bath!

Baths are fun!

I am all clean now!

My friend and I both noticed that we had fewer this spring and early summer and that those we had were tiny compared to past years. We are finally getting big numbers and much larger GFs. Don't really understand why as we both have had lots of Passionvines of different types. Right now they are devouring my Suberosa and leaving the Maypops, Incense, and Lady Margaret alone.

Of course Maddie knows, and she's grieving, too. She's doing her best to help you feel better, and want's your affection to help her out too. I'm still thinking of you, Sharon. I had a close call this past week. One of my favorite cats (I have 8 favorites!) disappeared while we were out of town. She was gone for nearly a week. I got some pictures printed out, took one by the vet, and headed home to start going door to door with them, and there she was, curled up on the back of the couch. Only those with pets know what he.. I was going through, and what a weight was lifted from me when she returned. Brad, Thanks for the lemonade recipe and tips. DGS and I have found 3 meyer lemon trees in the woods where we hike. He always wants to make lemonade when we get home so I need a Grammy worthy recipe. At Peppi's urging, I documented my grandmother's recipe for spaghetti sauce that she brought from Italy and I have been eating since---maybe birth. I'm sure it's not to everyone's liking but in my family it is THE SAUCE. Anyway on subject--in an effort to save this family treasure on something other than a recipe card and in an effort to decorate with purpose (learned that from RiverRat), I am handwriting it and having it aged, enlarged, matted, and framed or put on canvas.

I am in west central Louisiana, I planted four varieties of thornless blackberries this spring, including 4 sweetie pie's, which were planted 3-4 weeks later than the others in late March, but are still much smaller than the rest although with a more spreading growth habit. The others are Prime-Ark Traveler 6 in mid Feb lost 2, of the 4 remaining 3 are over 36 inches tall), I also have 10 Ouchaita's that range from 2-4 feet in length, and 6 Osages which average a bit smaller than the Ouchaita's, both were planted late Feb. Then there is the Sweetie Pies, each plant (grown from plugs) seem to have more canes growing out (in all directions) than the U of Arkansas varieties, but the chutes are only 12-24 inches long. p.s. I should mention mine are planted outdoors and are irrigated, I am using the cloth style soaker hoses on a timer, currently getting 25 minutes every other day, up until last week it was 25 minutes every 3rd day.

Oh Sherry, she is a doll. I love the bath shots. Who are the other cake-eaters in the picture?

I got pangs when you said "last" grandchild! Solomon's mom is the only one left to have more..she wants two more, but you never know. She plans to start trying in January.

It's wonderful to be a grandma.

Sherry she is so cute!! Love the bath in frosting look. Some meals it is just best to strip them down to a diaper.
