Turning email photo

I occasionally get photos sent by iphone to my email that are sideways. I don't know why this happens, but would like to turn them right side up. How do I do this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Irfanview will allow you to rotate the image with the L & R keys.

If you choose to install both the program and the plugins, install the program first.

Right click on the photo in the email.

Choose Save Image As ... and select where you want to save it.

I save it to my Desktop. Then go to that spot and double click on the image. You will see the arrow below on the screen to rotate it. Thats all you need to do.

Update on photo issues: ravencajun: YES! My system restore is clicked ON. zep516: Neat link, thanks. The site owner, Steve Maurer lives 30 miles south of me. We have never met tho. I ran into a issue on page 4 of the directions. It says to right click and choos Paste...that was not a choice. I did make progress by using his information on page 7, using the regsvr32 shimgvw.dll, after doing that, I can now send individual photo's and resizing them, however, I still can't send files of photos and resize them. I must get away from this evil machine for tonight, will keep trying tomorrow. Thanks to all for the great help. Steve

Photos taken with iPad email sideways

I have a similar problem and even correcting the orientation using Windows Photo Gallery, the photos continue to show up sideways when sent in email or posted here or any other website. Zep, I checked out the link and it does not offer any help. I frankly think it is either some glitch between PC's and Apple or intentional by Apple. You can make all the corrections you want on the PC and the photos are still sideways. What I do now is upload my photos from my Iphone or Ipad to Photobucket and make the corrections there. I then copy the photo and paste them to my computer. Its ridiculous to have to go through all those steps but I haven't found a way around the problem. Jane

The reason this happens is that the person sending the photo took it holding the phone (or camera) in portrait mode, rather than landscape mode. The computer doesn't know which way is up. Unless the sender rotates the file before sending it, that's the way you get it. And that's why you have to rotate it on your end to the orientation you want.
