View from the Malahat

Driving through the Malahat Mountain last week, on my way home from Victoria, I stopped at one of the lookout points. This is the view looking towards the Saanich Penisula. The big peak in the distance is

Personally, I'd be inclined towards the greener tones....and maybe even a gray green like a sage color (rather than the yellow greens in your color swatch). Earthy tones tend to be too warm to me in a hot and very sunny climate and the gray green is cooling and soothing. And it blends well and compliments both plants and rocks!!

Remove the chair next to the window. It looks like a chair for timeouts or something all alone by itself. I don't think anything is particularly wrong with the view. If you wanted to soften the wall, you could add curtains around the window. You could also add a console table behind the sofa back and a runner along the floor.

Yet in others (at least in N.O.) trellis or "decorative" fence toppings, wiring don't count. But, yes she needs to check. @ Isabella, I still think you have a blank canvas for a really lovely yard. If you think about it, your 2nd story view isn't a whole lot different than ANY urban view of your neighbors once you get your yard looking nice.

For those with a lovely view from your house: city lights or ocean vu

My mother had an opportunity to buy a condo with an ocean view, but opted to buy a condo on the other side of the same building with more of a city view for 2 reasons: (1) she said at night she did not want to look into the blackness of an ocean view, and (2) it was much less expensive to buy one with a city view than an ocean view, and she used the saved money for extensive renovations on the condo. But, now we are trying to sell the condo. The ones in the building with ocean views are being snapped up, even in this market, and the ones with city views are not selling, despite steep price drops. In conclusion, there are practical reasons I listed above for a city view instead of an ocean view, but for resale, ocean view wins hands down.

Oh yes I've driven that road many hundreds of times and it's always beautiful.

Ann, what country are we looking at in the views across the water? Is that Vancouver or some part of B.C. or is that Washington state?

I love the Saanich Peninsula, but I've only been through Malahat a few times, going between Parksville and Victoria. I've lost touch with my friend in Parksville, and I'm a bit worried about him. The Christmas card I sent him was returned as unknown.

Great place for having a yacht! I loved sailing through the Straits of Georgia.

Ann, we briefly talked of Vancouver Island last night and those who are there, and those who might move there. Uh, can you guess that we were ready to 'get in the car' as dh says!?!!?? More likely that car would start after a flight to Seattle. Maureen
