Here are the boys (and 1 girl!)playing hockey in a tournament:

They're all 7 & 8 years old. They won the semi-final game:

But then lost in the championships. Here they are lining up to shake hands:

They are so cute and have so much fun out there, it's the greatest feeling to watch them.

Cute, but can't see their blue eyes, AM! Wanna see the blue eyes! You have the cutest kids!

Did I mention, by the way, that we LOVED meeting you? You're the best!

Isn't it great to see them learning a team sport at that age ! I know I love to see and hear about my younger grandson, now ten years old, who's been playing hockey in Calgary since he could walk.

It must be expensive though to keep them in uniforms, headgear and skates when they're growing so much every year.

Another variant: passion ennobles; addiction degrades. My gardening makes the world more beautiful and, I think, more healthy, as I garden organically and work by enriching the soil, and grow frugal varieties that don't consume a lot of precious water. I also think there's a difference between buying a plant that has a good chance of bringing me happiness for the rest of my life, and money paid for some pleasure that lasts an hour. Nice Ech, Jeff, and I, too, love the pot. I have many interesting pots from a lady potter in our club, but we lost her to cancer in January. I treasure every pot and think of her often as I admire the plants I keep in them. I think creative people leave a bit of their "essence" behind in their masterpieces. First, congratulations to Canada for their very gracious hosting of the Olympics and their ability to take many glitches in stride. As for those girls, I think it was bad judgment to celebrate there, the beer and cigars should have been left in the locker room and then there would be no contention. However, girls that age very often display poor judgment, as do girls/women/boys/men of all ages. Of all the things that happen in the Olympics, that's one of the issues that didn't cause me to do any more than shake my head and think that Ashley probably would have done the same thing. Good tips, thanks to all. Dedtired, Good tip about the vacuuming. I'm wondering about the Florida heat-it's going to sit out on the lanai. Beau got to open it at the Family Christmas Eve Party tonight. I had his 8 year old twin cousins--whom he adores-- planted for the unveiling. They showed appropriated excitement for Beau's benefit and jumped in on que to play a demonstration game.

Lucy is going to be my figure skater! If I have to sit in a cold rink all day and spend a fortune on gear, I at least want the benefit of pretty outfits.

Hockey is a great sport for kids, Sharon. It must be so much fun to watch your grandson. Hockey is more difficult than other sports (factor in proficient skating along with a stick, puck and all that gear and rules) and the concept of "team" is so important that I'm amazed at how much my kids get out of it. In reality, I'd be thrilled for Lucy to be a hockey player.

Great pictures, AM. But, I do enjoy the closeups of your adorable children better :-)

I'm sure you'd be happy if Lucy becomes a Hockey player as long as she's happy, hey maybe by then Vera Wang will be designing the Olympic Hockey uniforms!
