Snow and more snow

I think I'll just post this right next to Sharon's lovely flowers. LOL

Last night we got 9 inches of snow in 4 hours. This morning, we dug out Ashley's car:

The swing in the back yard got its share of snow:

So did the deck and the pool:

The pine trees seem to hold more than their share of snow:

My great-niece, Savannah, says the snow doesn't matter, it just gives her a reason to ride in Aunt Annie's Jeep.

It sure makes me glad I bought the Jeep, though. Have I mentioned that I LOVE my Jeep? (grin) Go ahead, snow on me!!

Winter is here for a couple more days, but it's supposed to be near 40 by the end of the week and much of this will melt....again. Very strange weather this year, very strange indeed.

Annie, we got 1/2"-1" on Friday night, and that is all. It's mostly all melting away now. I would have liked your "snow dump" because it's been too warm and rainy for winter. If I live in Michigan, darn it, I want some snow!

Annie I'm sure glad our snow is up on the mountain and not down around the house like yours ! That's quite a pile you have there.
Still it looks like you have some nice blue sky though.

And your jeep is just the right vehicle to have in that kind of weather.

The last time we had any measurable amount of snow was in mid-December (about a foot). Since then, pretty much just flurries now and then. We haven't had a winter this dry for a long time. WE'RE supposed to be the Great White North, but instead, you guys are getting walloped! You may have a few more broken canes in the spring, but, like everyone says, the snow will insulate and give much needed moisture to your soil. Hope you are all o.k....be careful not to overdue the shoveling. You wouldn't want to put your back out just before spring. Judith

I don't mind snow just not bitter cold where your nose hairs freeze and the snow sqeaks. I also don't want, what DC is getting. Here today in Mi. we are getting snow I went out and shoveled by hand 2-3 inch for the next fall tonight and tomorrow, so Our son and hubby can get in the drive, hubby drives a MTA bus for the city of Flint all day so he don't want to see more when he gets home. Iam tired of winter but guess what we are one day closer to Spring Hallaluya. I did go out and broom off my winter sow spot that made me smile. through the brr snow.

Karen, a room temp soak from the bottom should be fine to rehydrate these plants. The container is so small that I think the soil-volume will dry before the plant has a chance to rot. As to the P. afra....don't worry! I've lost a bunch more leaves, too, which makes for a pretty skinny P. afra. However, I finally remembered to water the poor things, and now I can see new growth emerging. Have you watered? Josh

Yes, Ann, we ARE in a deep freeze. The tank heater is just keeping the water for the animals clear, just barely. the animals actually went into the barn. I keep the door open and just let them go in as they like, they seldom go inside. Cope will stand out in a blizzard and let the snow pile up on his back and seems to love it. However, it's 3 below right now, going to get down to 20 below tonight I guess. Back up to near 30 by Sunday or Monday. Annie

Annie, you beat me to the photos. We got about 6 inches, north of here got 12. After the warm weather, it was the wet, heavy kind but very pretty, sticking to the trees until today. Now is it slush, yuck!
