I came home this afternoon and there was a box by the front door!

It's my swap package! I tear into that box and Jeanette (Virginia7074) has wrapped it so pretty, it's beautiful and something inside smells so good. I can't really decide the scent, but it smells good!

I love this cookbook

I wish you could look at this cookbook, that is why I am a little late posting, I've been looking, no just skipping around looking at the cookbook.

Inside it says Cookbook and Tour Book and it is.

It doesn't just say appetizers, soups, salads, etc. It is categorized Poultry and Eggs, Meat, Shellfish and Fish, Dairy Products, Fruit and Nuts, Vegetables, Grains, Wine, Other Farm Products and Honorable Mentions, which are Honey and Maple Syrup. It is not just recipes, there is Virginia history. I do not have a cookbook like this one, it is wonderful. It even has a fact sheet for the categories. We grow sweet corn in our garden and I just gave DH the quiz, he did good, he got 7 out of 8 answers right!

I wish I could take a picture of each page because there is no way I can describe it, there is just so much useful information,

I really, really like this cookbook, but I think I already said that and there is more to come, Apple and spice Cake mix. Jeanette said she wanted to send a Virginia apple for the cake, but couldn't find one and didn't know if it would make it to Texas anyway. Oh, I can't wait to make this, but I think I will wait until after harvest and we won't have to share it with the farm workers, we can have it just for us. Nothing stingy about me!

What was smelling so good, a set of soaps, with a juice theme. How cool is that and Jeanette said they are made close to where she lives, Cranberry, AppleJack, Plum Spice and Pear. I hope the picture shows how pretty they are wrapped, but I really wish you could smell them. They smell so good, now I just have to decide which one to use first!

Jeanette, I love my Virginia package, it is just perfect!

Trixie, I can nearly smell that soap from here, but the Cookbook looks really interesting, something to read as well as use.

Enjoy it all (after harvest season, of course, LOL)

Hmmm, took the chocolate, did he??? LOL!! Well, I hope he appreciated that the chocolate has citrus infused olive oil in it. The olive oil, chocolate, and napkins came from the Temecula Olive Oil Company, just south of here. They have their own orchards in the Temecula Wine Country and make their own products. I bought a bottle of that garlic infused olive oil for myself and my 3 sisters for our BD's. (I also bought the blood orange infused olive oil and the vanilla balsamic vinegar for me too--their products are YUM :-))) Hope you enjoy them, julie! Barb

Stacy, You made the apron & the towels? How lovely! I can't even stitch a straight line. They're beautiful and I agree, the patches on the towels look like fruit crate labels (which I love). I'm loving the bowls (of course) and the canisters too...the canisters remind me of the kinds they used to show with the old Hoosier cabinets. (sherry, I hope that you opened those canisters up outside & shook them out really well. That fertility dust is invisible, you know). Whew! I started sweating bullets after I mailed it USPS priority on Saturday morning. They were completely out of confirmation forms and suggested I self-mail it from a kiosk because then I could ask for a confirmation. Well, in the end, there was no confirmation. So I just put my package in the box, turned the handle and said a little prayer for it when I heard it plop on the other side. Gotta say that self-mailing was a lot faster than waiting in line though.

Ace package! I go handmade soap in my last swap package and it was great.
The cake mix looks promising and the cookbook is lovely.

Wonderful swap items! I love fruity and herbal soaps for myself. That book looks like one I would really enjoy reading. Delicious sounding cake mix - yummmm!

Folks, if you have never visited the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia you really should! Beautiful and interesting part of the US.

The Apple and Spice cake mix sounds yummy! Love the handmade soaps - especially the Apple one (I'm a sucker for anything apple)

The cookbook looks like a good read = it's great when they give you more than just recipes.

That is a very nice package. I also love that cookbook, but I like handmade soaps also. The cake sounds good. I don't think I would share it either, lol.

The cookbook does look exceptional! I enjoyed seeing the corn page you posted, I definitely wouldn't have scored as high as you DH on varieties of corn. Even the side bar about corn on the cob etiquette! Too funny.

That does look like a special cookbook, another great trip to the bath tub!

Very nice package Jeanette. Trixie, I love that cookbook, and the spice cake mix. Since I'm a guy and only bathe when I have to I'll let my wife chime in and say she loves the soaps. Be sure and post some recipes for us.

Trixie, I very intriqued with your cookbook. I enjoy books like that. I'm going to have to search it out. Look forward to hearing what you make first.

I'd use the plum soap first...very nice gift.

The cookbook is wonderful and so full of information. I haven't had alot of time to enjoy it, but I pick it up every chance I have. I am still taking lunch to the field, but we should be through with harvest in a few days so I will have a little more time.

I use the applejack soap in the bath and the pear in the shower. They smell so good. I have already been on the parsonagesoap.com website. DD and DDIL will have some sweet smelling soaps in their stocking this Christmas.

The cake mix, I think I will fix it for one of my Thanksgiving desserts.
