Trouble with Adobe Flash

I have yahoo homepage, and when I click on a news story that has a video a message comes on that says I must download Adobe Flash, just click here and install it. I already have Adobe Flash, and just to be sure it was working ok I uninstalled it and reinstalled a new copy. I do not want to just click on the message because I am afraid that an add on will be downloaded with it. Delta search comes up and I have to change my homepage back by typing yahoo.com back in. I have uninstalled Delta search in my programs, but I do not know how it got installed in the first place. Can anyone tell me a safe way to get the video to work on the news story.? Thank You

What browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser? This is an attempt to limit the the issue to 1 browser.

For delta search you will need to a bit more work to get rid of it entirely.

To do that, download AdwCleaner Download from

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Using AdwCleaner is very simple. Simply download the program and run it. You will then be presented with a screen that contains a Scan and Clean button. The Scan button will cause AdwCleaner to search your computer for unwanted programs and then display all the files, folders, and registry entries found on your computer that are used by adware programs.

When the scan has finished, look through the scan results and uncheck any entries that you do not wish to remove. When you are satisfied with the selection, simply click on the Clean button, which will cause AdwCleaner to reboot your computer and remove the files and registry entries associated with the various adware that you are removing. On reboot, AdwCleaner will display a log showing the files, folders, and registry entries that were removed.

When you're done with adwcleaner, double click it and choose uninstall

I am using Internet Explorer, and yahoo is my homepage. I have adoby flash in my programs to uninstall, but it is not in my show all programs. When I hit uninstall at the bottom of the page it has a link to adoby help. When I get the help page it said my flash player is out of date, and the new download has Google and Google tool bar with it. I do not want to download Google. I think that something is blocking my adoby flash from working. Any ideas?

I've had minor problems with the last/current version of Flash Player locking up the browsers and stopping internet for a few moments when on certain webpages. I assume it will be fixed soon as I've notice several others having seemingly identical issues. Its supposed to be more safe than previous versions.. they update it mostly for protecting us from newer threats. If you think you need it .. install it. If you don't miss it.. don't install it. I dont have the link to the trouble repair method on adobe site but basically its.... look in task manager for Macromedia & Flash Player, end all processes you find there.. Uninstall from control panel....then use the uninstall tool, delete all the folders and files you can find on the hard drive... Restart before installing fresh. I found some step by step instructions from AumHa Forums. A caveat before you start...back up the registry before making any changes. If you don't know how to do this, please ask and I will offer step by step instructions. The steps to uninstall non functioning Adobe Flash Player and replace it with Adobe Flash Player 9 Stand Alone: Download the following two applications: Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157 Adobe Flash Player 9 Stand-alone Installer (NB: Link to the Direct Download of the updated executable): http://www.macromedia.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_ie Check in Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, for any entry "Adobe Flash Player Active X" and uninstall the entry. With no other application running, run the Uninstaller you downloaded earlier. In the Registry editor (regedit), navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\DistributionUnits\(D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000) In the Left-hand pane, right-click on the key (folder) named (D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000), and choose Delete. Well, that's a loaded question. Do you need Flash? It's basically built into many browsers now (Microsoft Edge, Chrome and derivatives) so you don't need to "get it". For Firefox and IE, you still need to download separately, but make sure you're actually using sites that need it. It's probably the most common way to get a virus browsing the web today and is a major pain to keep installing updates (sometimes daily) and restarting your browser to get the new version. If you don't need it, it's pretty simple to not install it. If you do need it, or it's part of the browser you're using, you should consider getting a flash blocker extension so you can only enable the actual flash content you want - much safer.

For clarity,

If you chose to save when installing Flash it is a lot easier if you are using the targeted browser; IE or non-IE. If you chose run it is mandatory to use the target browser.

I use IE - Yahoo video's some have always been a problem with IE. I've put yahoo.com in IE's compatibility mode setting. That helps.

Alt key, Tools menu .. Compatibility View settings.
