Adobe Air, Adobe Reader, Flash Player Plugin

Flash Player Active X.

All need updating. Win 7 laptop.

When I go to the sites to update, it includes a McAfee scan which I see no way around. No box to uncheck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mikie! I went directly to the websites (Adobe.com) and they had the McAfee scan. How did you do that???

Laptop hadn't been used for 8 months so there was a zillion updates and took forever.

Maybe I did something wrong, maybe unique to my other settings - only had one flash cookie item listed there to start with ..... tried those settings... then put them back the way they were, didnt take the time to fool with it. Volume level wouldnt stay set on sites and youtube videos played next, next like a playlist,,, couldnt do full screen on some videos, couldnt scroll yahoo video/news page.

DA, watch that thinking while eating lunch...it's bad for the digestion! However it is much appreciated. Below are the answers to your questions. 1. Have you tried FF bare boned with not add-ons to see if this occurs? Ans. Yes 2. Have you tried a prior version of FF? Ans, Yes, just a few minutes ago. I un-installed ver 11.0 and installed the older 10.0.2 in it's place. I also un-installed Flash Player and re-installed that again. ...still the same results after shutting down and re-starting! 3. You can try completely uninstalling Adobe Flash ... Followed by restarting your computer. Download the full installer and install it. Adobe Flash Uninstaller tool; http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash download for Mozilla browsers; http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash download for Internet Exporer browser and some IntantMessengers too (active x); http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/support/install_flash_player_ax.exe At least then you can know you have Flash installed correctly. A script on this page is behaving poorly .. doesn't necessarily mean adobe flash is causing the problem. Windows has built in scripting. - And - You have a popup blocker and advertising blockers that block some scripting and that is usually the cause of that type of message - combined with poorly written page code to avoid causing that problem with adv & popup blockers. Another words its a website problem usually.

I would not install Zone Alarm on a Windows 7 computer, if that's what you're suggesting.

The MS firewall on Windows 7 and newer is fine. No need for a third party firewall.

Most softwares If you visit their support sites will have direct downloads. But its not always in plain view. Maybe I've visited support sites too much for too many years.

I never have liked 3rd party firewalls.. but understand some are accustomed to them....

Thanks Mikie, again! It is the same one I tried to install. It has their toolbar. Its almost impossible to get rid of it once installed. They have made it mandatory to take their seach toolbar with the free ZA. Probably even throw it in with the paid version.

Last year you could install by clicking 'skip all offers' but even clicking it installs the search toolbar.

I'm running Win XP and need a firewall.

It does, but they say it's a one way Firewall, you can Google XP Firewall

It's been said that the xp Firewall blocks incoming, but not out going, I'd have to read it again to see exactly how inadequate some claim it is.....

Snidely, it has the old Windows Firewall which is supposed to be unsafe.

Apparently it is a one-way firewall. I'm holding on to my XP desktop and laptop until they croak. Both run well and do what I need them to do.
