have a new laptop Toshiba satellite laptop can someone tell me where my cord from my camera is installed in my computer

awww, you guys are the bestest!!!Thx for your kind words. I overplayed the beehive in proportion to the tree, but I was just so excited when I was painting it, I never stopped and when I got up and stood back, I knew it was too big, but I was too tired to fix it then, so it got left that way. Countrygrl, everything was acrylics except the sky, that was interior wall paint, but I made sure it got 3 coats of sealer. The beehive is a shimmery gold acrylic. Ahhh... I've wanted one of these beauties for a long time. Although I did just come by four rather rare Bulbos(I think!), that I wanted even more, last week!!;~) As much as I obviously love Bulbos, having 80-90(?) of 'em, I have major issues keeping them wet enough without being soggy. The little guys are the worst for me!! :~( I just can't hover over them and they must either take a lot of neglect or I have to do some major jury-rigging. Depending on the condition of the mount, I'd consider replacing it or just attaching the remains to a fresh piece. I got some Hapalochilus (Bulbo subspecies or something like that!) last year in the same condition. I did one of my "whatever works" jobs! I just attached the remains of the the decaying fern to a fresh one. I then sank it into a mass of Long-fibered sphag, which was then placed into semi-hydro type growing conditions. It's worked great, or at least better than anything else that I could come up with at the time. I can keep the humidity up and it stays moist w/o being wet. I would seriously consider upping the light. No matter what anyone says... Bulbos do far better with a lot of light. I might have other info/links, but I'm on my laptop and all my orchid info is on my desktop. Scott

Both of your trees sound great! I want to see pictures, please! The idea of a year round tree is very appealing to me and it wouldn't be hard to store small decorations for it. Guess I need to start looking for something I can make one from or find one to buy. Karen, you are right, we really don't see allot for St. Pat's usually. However, now that the blog "Naps on the Porch" is hosting those weekly tablescapes, there should be lots of cute ones to see. I don't have much "green", both decor wise and money wise, so will have to get creative to come up with a couple vignettes I haven't already done before so I'll have something new to share with all of you this year. Hmmm, how much time do I have? Is it the 17th of March? Need to check my calendar. Luvs

if your software did not install properly you should probably go to control panel add remove programs and select to remove it there. Then you can either try to re-install it or just forget about it. My personal preference is to forget about it and go with a card reader. First are you sure your computer does not have a card reader built in to it? Most of the newer ones do. You take the little memory card out of the camera and insert it into the proper slot in the card reader. If you get a usb card reader it simply plugs into a usb port on your pc or a usb hub you have connected to your pc, then once it is ready you just insert the memory card from your camera into the reader. You can then copy the pics directly to the pc or do what ever you want to do with them. Always remember when using any device that plugs into a usb port to use the safely remove icon down in the systray before unplugging from the usb port. ...and almost all digital cameras have a cable that plugs into the camera on one end and, on the other end, has a USB connection that plugs into any USB port in the computer. However, if you have a slot for the camera's memory card in the computer, this is a generally faster way to transfer photos.

Call me old fashion if you wish as I find it easier to just use the cable transfer method with my Canon. The card trafnsfer method requires me to remove the card, install it into my system, perform the desired task, remove it from the system, and reinstall it in the camera.

I never really noticed that much speed difference between the methods.

I do use the card method with the mini-SD for my cellphone.

Speed may vary depending on the card/camera combo, but I've had 4-5 different digital cameras and different cards and they all seem to be noticeably slower when hooked up by cable, even with a USB 2.0 port. The few seconds it takes me to pull the card and pop it into my computer takes me less time than hunting around for the cable and then plugging it in, etc. Another advantage of using the card slot instead of hooking up the camera is that you don't use up battery charge (the camera has to be turned on to do the transfer using a cable). There have been several times where I've done a transfer by cable and started looking at the pictures, deciding which ones to transfer, which ones to rotate, showing them to a family member, etc....and then realized belatedly that I had had my camera turned on for half an hour while I was fooling around.

My Canon takes two AAs and I have two sets of photo rechargeable batteries. For me I am at the stage of my life when I am no hurry for almost everything. I spent too many years at work and the standard family hullabaloo being at full speed while life passed by. A few seconds make very little difference to me now.

It's kind of like those drivers who always like to go 5 mph over the limit just to get there sooner. Unless you are doing 10, 12, or more hours of travel it really doesn't very much difference.
