Pretty holiday cheer. I am especially fond of the furry friends looking out the window...speaks volumes..wonder what they were thinking? Were they watching someone outside? They are so intent..cute picture!

I love the blue lights to..I am a blue fan.

Linda, Your losing Little Boy has touched my heart and I share in your grief. I am so sorry for your loss of such a beautiful friend and garden helper. I feel like I had come to know him in a way, what with our two 'boys' looking just like brothers. Fat Cat Nemo did have another brother besides Little Boy and his name was Cosmo. They were littermates and we took them in when they were just tiny kittens no one wanted. His death at age 7 came without warning and he died in my arms. I had just let him outside & closed the door when I heard a thud. I opened the door and saw he was flopping on the ground so I scooped him up, but within seconds he was gone. I didn't understand what was happening because he was always so healthy and we had just been cuddling before I let him out. I grieved for a long, long time and even now the tears will come easily like now when I remember his passing. That was 3 years ago and it still is a raw ache in my heart. So what I did to try to heal was I made a memorial garden for him near the back woods where he loved to hunt. I planted a bleeding heart over where his ashes were and catnip for the other cats to enjoy. There are little cat statues in there and my cats like to go there and sit. More like plant killer than a helper! I can only imagine what my yard would like like without him...yet, I can't imagine my life with out him! He's my partner in crime! This is Jasper. I adopted him from the Humane Society at the age of 1.5 & he will be 5 in Dec. He is a mix of White German Shepherd & Pointer. I've gotten really good at throwing the frisbee so he doesn't end up in my garden. The neighborhood kids is another story. He is really good at keeping ALL varmints out & 90% of the time misses every plant on his way to them. My most ironic story is before I got him I never had an issue with rabbits. One fall he caught 1 & killed it. Horrifying listening to that squeal & bones crunching. I couldn't get it away from him & like an idiot called him in the house. He comes in WITH the dead rabbit & plops up on my bed! EEEWWWW! I got him locked up & had to deal with the warm & very flippy floppy rabbit. Ever since, the rabbits have taken revenge on my yard! He WAS trained to stay out of everything that was mulched & that got kaboshed when I realized he needed some shade in the heat of summer. I redesigned a corner of my yard to lead a path under the Japanese Maple to give him some shade. Just recently he has acquired a secret admirer that lives on the other side of that fence...a female Yorkie name Nala that tries to escape to be by him. ="" ="" PS: What size should these pics be so they don't appear so big?

Oh my goodness what great stories and visions :) Now to be clear, DS has a tree in his room and the play room so we do decorate trees together. And I let him put on the train ornaments on the big tree...but I prefer to have that done before he gets to do that heh heh My vintage ornaments are all from the goodwill. Fabulous and such a shame someone didn't want them, but if they break it does not hurt my heart, aside from some special ones which I protect (and hang far up on the tree). We had dinner tonight and I came home to find one kitten crawling up the stairs with an ornament in her mouth :) It's a 1940's thing but it's actually plastic so she didn't damage anything. Cracked me up! Fun...I left a ladder by the mantle when we went to dinner...I found two kitties on the mantle when I was locking up for bed. All of the garland I had put there was on the floor...note to self....no ladders by cat exploration zones! Dlm...I was hanging ornaments with DS on his tree and came across one from a couple of years ago...horrific preschool thing with a picture of him smiling when he lost his first tooth. I know what you mean by tears :) Kathy I always wondered who those upside down tree people were LOL My ceilings are twelve feet though....I am not sure I could hang a big enough tree!!! And how does one keep a finial on???? heh heh Bee....I love the picture of DH with the ornaments coming in slowly. When things like that happen here I try to tell DH not to do business at home. My favorite story is when DS came running in during a meeting we had at the house for a business we were thinking of buying. He ran into the parlor after school and announced....."Good News Dad! I Pooped and wiped my own butt!!!" Nothing says serious business guy like a kiddo who can not only poop but wipe as well :p Crl...I love the outside idea...but I don't have any trees outside the house :P I suppose I could make a triangle on the fence...but I don't think the family will fall for it! Lynn :) Smooches. Life is sometimes just a ball of fun..sometimes it's poop in the parlor. If you can't laugh it's just not worth living! yaya...I was telling DS about my first tree in Alaska. I kept coming home to find my kittens half to two thirds up stuck. They'd be meowing like nuts, with their heads stuck out and nothing more :) At least they didn't knock it over!

Akchicago - tell your cat I am giving him my own green eyed stare back, lol. I like animals, just not mixed with food and food prep, and I just am not a cat person. Hearing all these stories about animals and countertops and fur flying gives me the heebie jeebies. I grew up with poodles because my mother had allergies. We never had shedding in our house other than the guinea pigs I had, but they were never in the kitchen. I did not even know I had allergies too until I was an adult (or they got worse then). I am mostly allergic to cats and will get a red rash almost instantly if one touches my bare skin. Of course, I walk into houses and they make a beeline for me, while other agents or buyers are crouched down saying "here, kitty kitty" and being ignored. I am an animal magnet. It is so awkward because I don't want to offend any homeowners, but I do not want their cat to rub up against me. It is worse in the summer where it would be direct contact on my legs. If a house is not clean and has cats, my throat will close up a little, so I get the heck out. That is very rare though (knock wood). I am far from a germaphobe, but I avoid cat fur like the plague because it itches so badly if I make contact. I think that does not help me think of cats and kitchens being a good mix, even though those are separate issues. I am also not crazy about dog fur near food, but it does bother me less because I have never seen a dog up on a counter (although I bet some get up there). I do wash my hands after I touch a dog and am anywhere near food. I guess we all have our pet peeves (pun intended), but mine is not as socially acceptable as people who have other kinds. It seems like people are more offended if you are not into their pets than if you are not into their kids (whom I adore, btw). A kid with a runny nose does not phase me in the least nor does a big sloppy kiss but keep me away from cats.

Oh Kathy, such lovely decorations and I'm so glad you got some of your joy back and managed to do them again! Your new home looks wonderful, but I have to agree with the others, the little furry helpers are my favorite! Now where is Fancy?

Eduarda: We missed a really cool pic of Fancy. Diane put up a small Christmas village near the $16 tree. She walked in and Fancy was lying down looking at it. By the time she got her camera, she had moved.

Diane was out side, maybe you noticed the window is open. BeBe hopped up there and has his kick stand out.
We are supposed to get our first really coold weather tonight, down to about 26.

Edna, I must confess, I did the $16 tree and mantel only.
When I got home after Tgv Diane had done almost everything else. I did help with the last two trees of blue lights. I feel like singing "The house of Blue Lights" each time I drive up.
Her #1 grandson and his bride of 3 months will be here Thursday. When he was small, Nana's was where he spent each Christmas, so she wanted everything "just right".

Btw, we found a solution to keep the plants on the patio warm. I came up with the idea to put xmas lights out there. We "huddled" them all together. So far it has worked. The lowest it has been is 25.

Here is a pix of the mantel. I bought an old damask tablecloth at a thrift store to make the stockings and added lace around the tops.

How pretty! Love those blue lights! I wanted to do some blue lights but DH couldn't wrap his brain around the idea. lol! I will have to show him how pretty yours look.

Kathy, you have been busy! I love the outside lights, but that mantel is stunning. I need a mantel... hmmmm, project for next year?
